I think there is a lot of confusion. MB and Chrysler developed ATF+4, and used it as PSF, as far as I know. That means any good ATF will substitute. BUT mixing ATF with Pentosin means disaster, they are the one truly incompatible fluid combo in auto industry.
Best method is to smell or inspect the current fluid. Red and smelly = ATF |
This clears it up:
See how the approved fluids are labeled ATF... I'm re-verifying this in my W209, but stumbled on this post. https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...griff=steering 236.3 Steering gear oils (ATF, Specification 236.3)The following product list should help you to select the correct operating fluid for your vehicle/major assembly from the variety of products in the market. |
It looks like CHF 11S or similar "synthetic" PSF is required. My 2007 had ATF in the reservior, so kind of confusing. I have to flush it back to CHF 11S, and do it completely as the fluids are not compatible. Not "miscible", they don't dissolve in each other and cause poor lube conditions. It will kill the system.

My 2006 CLK is fine on ATF.
This is what I'm trying now... https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...c0533a0e3a.jpg 236.3 is a Dex ll product... |
You should be using 345.0
