05 CLK 500 Radio Problems!!
Check out these 2 pics. Sometimes, when I start the car, I get no sound from the speakers. In the first pic, the buttons on the right, there should be a button that says "sound". I also notice when this happens that the button for the multiple CD player in the glove box is missing. The next morning when I start the car, the missing buttons come back and everything is normal. Anybody have this problem and if so, how do I fix it?

I have the same exact problem. I found that taking out the number 26 fuse in the interior fuse box fixed the problem for a day. Now 2 weeks later after getting it my sound never works. From what I read online it has to do with one of the components on the fiber optic loop being broken. I also found on mine that the fiber optic cable going into the cd changer was very sensitive and would go on and off depending on the slightest movements of the cable. Im sending it to mercdes tomorrow

All he could tell me so far is its going to cost atleast $600 and they still don't know what the problem is. It has been there for 5 hours "diagnosing" the problem. The whole thing seems like there trying to rip me off when I had to get something from car, there was no one near the car but I am still paying for while they are doing nothing

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to avoid the dealer. Nowadays, mechanics have lost the ability to troubleshoot; if the the car's computer doesn't set a code for something, they're lost.

They said it was a short somewhere in the circuit. They traced it to the amplifier and said there was a short inside the amp. I requested not to have the amp replaced. My brother drove the car home and the radio did not work but I just went for dinner and the radio is working now this does not seem like shorted amp and they wanted $2100 to fix the amp

I feel your pain. To me, a short is a short is a short. It either works or it doesn't. The way the sound will work some days and not others makes me think it's a connection problem, not a component failure.
I found that if I get in, close the door, and don't do anything for about 10 seconds, the radio will work. I don't know why this would be, but it works.
There is also something in the wiring diagram called a "wake-up circuit" that connects the radio to the CD changer, the amplifier, etc. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem.

My radio still works. I am thinking it was the wires going to the amp. In the report I got from the servicing they said while inspecting the connections to the amp they found chaffed wires and replaced them. I would look for something like that by the amp.

My 2005 did the exact same thing with the sound going out. I never lost any of the buttons on the display. The dealer replaced the amp and the nav head unit under the extended warranty. They told me this was a common issue on the CLK, maybe it is from the harsh temperature swings in this part of the world???

I am starting to get the same problem out of my CLK. I do not have the navigation but every so often there will be absolutely no sound coming out until i turn off the car for a bit. It is only periodic. Barry O, when they fixed yours did it have to not be working at the time since the problem can be random?

CLK 55
I am having the same problem in my '03 CLK 55. Tried the bypass coupler at the CD changer without any help. It is still working of and on. Bumps in the road do not seem to affect it either way.
Does any one know where the amp is located in this year before I tear out the lining of the rear trunk space?

thats how mine started just working periodically. Then just stopped working until I brought it in. The amp is in the back on the passenger side from what I heard. I would check around there for any chaffed wires.

I have the same issue with my 05 clk500 too.
It also will do this sporadically, the last round it worked for two months with no issues untli today.
TSB recall, or whatever they call it but MB should fix this common issue.

When I brought the car in the radio was working. They were able to some sort of diagnostics and determined the amp was bad. After the new amp went in, they then determined the nav head unit was bad as well and replaced it. Everything seems to fine for the moment.

Now my radio is back, all on it's own it just came back.
Very wierd, lets see how long it takes for it to act up again.
By the way no harsh weather in So Cal, car sits in garage too.

05 CLK 45000 Miles
I bought this car with about 34,000 miles a bit less than a year ago. Stopped today on a trip, came back out and no sound. Radio display showed fine, but it wasn't recognizing the CD changer. Drove another 45 mins, when I opened the trunk to get the fuse puller I heard what sounded like a "fan" running in the right side of the trunk behind the panel. I pulled the No. 26 fuse, it looked fine. Replaced it...returned to the trunk and didn't hear the "fan" sound anymore. Started the car and the volume was back. Strange. This car now has about 45,000 miles. I think it's still under extended warranty from purchase..going to have dealer investigate.

I don't know if this might help, but try to turn off your Command every time you stop the engine so that whenever you start the engine your command isn't on.

Just returned from the dealer where they did a hard reset to get my system working. 2006 CLK350 Cab. Tried all the simple remedies without success. Would have sworn the amp was bad. The service person did not know what a hard reset was. I would guess diconnecting the battery if I had to guess.

I had my 4th amp and Nav. head unit put in about 3 weeks ago. It seems fine, but the previous 3 also seemed fine. Anyway this will be the last one as the car is out of warranty in November.

My 2007clk 550 (209) (17,000 miles) has that radio problem. Three times in the past 5 months the radio/cd/ccd has no sound. It always seems to happen on a weakend. So come Monday morning, when I want to take the car in and show the dealer, I start up the car and the radio etc. works just fine. So if I can get it to the dealer not working....what do you think will be the solution?

2005 CLK 500 - yup same problem
I also tried reseating fuses, didn't seem to work. Later that day, radio came back.
Then it happened 2 more times, nothing I can figure out.
Another problem is that sometimes I start the car and the radio is staticy for like 5-10 minutes and goes away, or it stays that way until I get home and next time I start the car it's fine again.
Hasn't done either for over a month, so maybe it is heat? Seems like June and July I had most of those?

Radio went out again last Sat. after washing the car. Wife took it to the mall and no radio. Same thing happened last time. I had pulled and replaced fuse 26 the last time without success. Since they claimed a hard reset did it at the dealer I pulled and replaced fuse 26 with the engine running and the radio on. Nothing! Shut off radio and turned it back on and sound again. The car was bought in June of 05 and I feel that either something is getting wet or battery is not at peak votage after running the engine and having the doors open and closed as I'm cleaning it up. Anyway saved about 5hrs going to the dealer and back and at least gas money and $100 dollar repair for now.

05 CLK500, stock HK sound, same problem: no sound for four days covering several engine restarts. Pulled and reinserted the number 26 fuse this morning and now it has sound. Spooky.

Radio No sound
Go to the trunk drivers side pop the cover off pull out 1 at a time the fuses starting at the top and putting them back in, I only did the top 3 turned on the key, CD changer went through some noises and then there was sound. It was like a reset button for the cd changer issue.
