Thanks for thread jacking, you bunch of homos...

Anyways, drove the CLK pretty much all afternoon and here are my observations. THIS THING IS LOUD. I was really worried about any possible drone on the highway, but even up to 85 mph on cruise control, on a flat stretch of highway, there was minimal drone. But of course, any slight tap of the throttle or if going uphill and you can't even hear yourself think.

The car sounds absolutely amazing in the manual shifting mode, can definitely turn heads and set off car alarms. With that said, it may be a little too loud for me...haven't decided yet. I feel almost embarrassed to be driving such a loud Mercedes, maybe I'll embrace the loudness of it all once I can drive windows down in the springtime.

I had a feeling you would going to say that.

When I used to have a new exhaust system done and it was real loud I always though, meh, it ain't that bad... Two weeks later I was always back in the exhaust shop having a resonator put on :rolf:

Like a new girlfriend, it's awesome that they are lound and so forthright in the beginning but after a while... you get the picture.

Badblackfolife Jan 21, 2011 10:01 AM

Hmmmm i need a video to know how loud it is... cause if it's OD loud then i might go Dynos route.

kinduva a thread jack but.....anyone know the actual performance gains on AMG mufflers? Thinking I might replace my brabus exhaust with dual AMG mufflers but I don't want to "feel" like I've lost any hp. I bet they're about the same......

Girlfriend isn't exactly super awesome at driving the CLK, she cut someone off as we were getting off the highway, turns out they live in the same complex we do...fail.

Badblackfolife Feb 9, 2011 09:48 PM

nice nice i will make a roll clips with dyno.

dynomite05 Feb 9, 2011 09:55 PM

Sounds loud. You should take one with the camera in the car and the rear seats down.

EuroTra$H Feb 9, 2011 10:35 PM

NASCAR ready:zoom::shakehead:
Too loud for me.... kind defeats all the engineering put into a MB and the balance between performance and elegance.

Clkboi Feb 9, 2011 11:08 PM

Damn 800 bucks, not bad. i spent about 1k on my exhaust and its not even quad. I have a magnaflow dual oval tip muffler with sec cat delete, res delete and 3" downpipe. Was expense for me pretty much because of labor and custom piping. This looks like the way to go, wish I would've done something like this setup and its cheaper, only thing i would do is probably have some mufflers on there and got more sound by doing something else, btw Dynomite05, ur setup looks similar and is looking pretty damn nice too, I def gotta get on that quad setup asap soon didn't know i could have it for less then i spent on dual on one side.
Heres a pic of my rear, black powdered coated tips, tried to get a muffler closest to OEM look.
