Calling all w209 stance gurus, advice needed on wheel fitment
Quick question,
I'm currently on stock suspension, now I'm wondering what size tires to run with 18x9 +30ET all around.
I know the offset is low enough for the rears, I was looking at the front and it looks like the fronts would probably rub on the springs?
Anyway, considering that it won't, should I run 235/40's ?
Thanks

I'm trying to avoid having to roll fenders, so I'm not trying to go too low on the offset, but if it comes down to it for suspension clearance I will. Has anyone ever had a problem with the suspensions hitting the tires? There's just this cup around the springs that I think might cause clearance issues. I can take pictures if you guys don't know which I'm talking about..
Everyone feel free to jump in and give me some insight on this, I'm just not familiar with size and offset capabilities of w209s.

You won't need in the rear, but if you want to you Can go 10mm all around. I honestly think stretching tires isn't safe, but it's your car.
If you take a look at everyone's setup, you will see the most common width for front wheels is 8.5". With that width you won't rub. You list yours at 9" wide. Do a test fit and try them on without the tires. Worst case you have to use spacers.
If you're trying to save money and do it right the first time 235/40-265/35 is the way to go.

Like 5mm in the front and 10mm in the rear? Also why a lower profile in the rears? What about just a conservative stretch, 225/40 and 245/40 in the rears, would that work? Sorry for the '21questions' lol I'm really trying to get this right the first time, I don't have money to blow on two sets of tires.

ahh.. the reason I thought I should add spacers in the rears is because in my head it would look like a "reverse staggered" look if they were just in the front lol. Would I be able to get away with running just 5mm all around?

5mm spacers are not hubcentric is could cause vibration at highway speeds. Smallest size that's hubcentric is 10mm. It will look kind of reverse staggered. You don't have to run them in the rear but you might want to.

OK... I ran across a smokin' deal for some Brabus Monoblock VI 19" 2 piece wheels. These would be for my sis-and-law's '05 CLK320. Unfortunately, they came off of an SL500 (R230) and are 255/35 ZR19 and 285/30 ZR19. I have no offset or width information at this time. (maybe 9.5"x19" and 10"x19") Does anybody know offhand whether or not an R230 fitment wheel might work on a W209? (maybe with some fender rolling) I'm going to check out the wheels this Saturday and we may do a test fitment then. TIA

My bad... it's a typo. Edited.
And I just found out that those are the correct widths. (9.5" and 10")

I'm running 275 rears with 10 mm spacer & 9.5" et 35 wheels no pulling or rolling needed. It really will depend on tire sidewall Toyo's have a nice rounded edge and allow for a very aggressive fitment.

That's good to know... these wheels come with some barely-used Toyo Proxes T1R's, so maybe they'll fit. Hopefully the R230 offset works out.
