Set Analog Clock CLK 500 2006 w/Command

In the manual it says to go to Instrument Cluster, but there is no Set Time Function as it appears in the manual. It also says to see Command Manual but I do not have a separate manual for the command only the regular manual.

I have spent about an hour trying to figure it out so far today with no luck. The GPS did not automatically set the Analog clock either. Is there a function with the odometer/display setting button to set the analog clock? Tried that too but did not see anything.

When I got the car a few months ago the clock was wrong and a mechanic friend of mine that works on MB set the clock to the correct time so I know there is a way to do it. If there is a better instruction manual online happy to download it and try again.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Easy fix!

You only can do it over your comand, you have to set there your time for your cluster.

Something with the set Button on the comand to get in the right menue...if IIRC.

I can't find it and it is killing me. I know exactly where to go but it is just not there. I feel like an idiot, it really has me stumped.

My '05 set the clock through COMAND, when I upgraded the gauges and programming to the '06 the clock now sets through the instrument cluster.

On the '04 CLK500, no comand, I set it through the cluster controls, and it resets the analog clock.
On the '07 R, with comand (no GPS), I still set it in the cluster, and it reset the analog clock.
What the heck is with this daylight savings time crap, anyway.

Command. System button on left side, clock set, then use the toggle to set the time. Simple!

If all you need to do is set the clock for DST, then you can do that with an option in COMAND. The time itself is set by the GPS signals, then you choose your timezone and DST on or off. To do this, press the "SERV" button, then select "SYSTEM", then "TIME". Now you make sure the correct timezone is selected and press ENTER (i.e. the center/select button on the D-pad). You then get an option for DST where you select "ON", then press ENTER. The clock will advance itself.

Rodney, you da MAN! Just went down to garage and tried what you suggested. Like the MC ad, Priceless. Like a champ it worked. Now why the heck don't they put that in he instructions. It would have saved me over an hour of playing with the worthless instructions that were in the manual. Thank YOU!!

Is it not in the manual? I can't remember. I think it's in the COMAND manual. Anyhow, I think the real trick is that you have to remember to ENTER on the timezone. Most people get to that point and don't see any setting for DST and give up.

Rodney, I printed it out and will stick it in my manual for future reference. Do you know where I can get a copy of the command manual? Is it downloadable?

I know the main user's manual is on the MBUSA website, but I can't find the COMAND manual (except for MY2012, which is no good for us W209 owners). I'll check mine when I get a chance, but I'm not sure when that will be...I'm driving a rented Mazda 6 while the 17yo drives the CLK - her C240 is in the body show fixing several dents and dings from the high school parking lot. Oh the sacrifices we make for the kids...

Thanks Rodney. Sounds like you will have to steel your car back from your daughter. Have fun with the Mazda.

Well, I thought I killed the Mazda today - I had it floored going up a long, steep hill (couldn't get it above 40mph). It started smoking and smelled like burning rubber, but I think it was just some undercoating around the exhaust that got a little too hot. Oh, and I have some suspension parts ordered for the CLK because I'm getting some clunking noises over rough roads. Well, the Mazda, with 1200 miles on the clock, sounds much worse! Of course to be fair, it's a $20K base-model car. It does seem fairly well constructed, and it has BT handsfree and BT streaming audio standard.

I have the same vehicle, and I'm having a similar issue. I was able to set the instrument panel clock but not the Command clock. Whenever I get to the "Timeset" option is prompts me to turn on the ignition. On e I turn the ignition on, the "Timeset" option becomes disabled. Is there another way to set the Command time?

What are you changing out on the suspension?

If you look at the thread here the solution that was presented to me worked great. You do need to have the car out I believe where it can get a GPS signal and then press the SERV button on the command. It will ask you for time zone and I think then you press next and then it asks you daylight time and click that button and then next I think and it should work then automatically. If not then there may be another issue. The comments here have been very helpful.

I wish it was some cool mod, but its just the typical crap - sway bar bushings and end links, and control arm bushings. The front right thrust link bushing is totally shot. I briefly thought about upgrading the sway bar, but I figured I can do that anytime and only lose the $8 bushing investment. I also thought about coil overs, but I have no spring or strut problems right now. And really, I work in an industrial area with lots of ruts and potholes so I think I'll stick with stock now.

Thanks Jzorn. I tried following the instructions listed but still no luck. Luckily I rarely look at the time display on the navi lol

FYI, most dealers will set your clock for free.
