As per Gyln advice, I went to this indie today and checked the ATF level. Now that both the engine and the transmission were truly at operator temperature, I would get a more accurate measures. I am happy to report that the ATF level was at the mid point of the 80c mark.

I will replace this ATF in another 60k km. How aboout this time i will put 2 magnets in the pan to attract more metal shearing. Or maybe, many 722.6 is too old to produce these metal shavings.

Unfortunately most of that metal swarf we find in filters is aluminium & thus not magnetic.

Pleased your level is fine. Now you can have peace for the next 60,000 Km.

Glyn, do you know the approx date MBUSA abandoned the "sealed for life" concept and went to "change once"? And to "change every 60,000km"?

It seems they came to their senses during 2009 after many failures. They are still officially at change once only at 39K miles to "remove run-in debris"

ROW has always been EVERY 39K miles or 66K Km's.
