Finally got me a 500!

Hey everybody--lease just ended on my C250, and right at that time, somebody sold a 2005 CLK500 to our store, with 56k miles. Well I swooped on it and I'm very happy to be driving a wall of torque with two doors. We had to clean up the front bumper and the wheels, but everything else is pretty clean--interior is pretty much brand new.

It needs the tranny service STAT, and the window regulator bushings are probably loose, causing the windows to slap when I close the door, but that's about it. IMO it needs an alignment too, but I'm kinda anal about that.

All in all, quite happy, aside from losing a backup camera, navigation, bluetooth audio, blindspot assist, and keyless go--haha but having a whomper under the hood makes up for all that. I think I'll start with some tint, and then hopefully the coilovers sooner rather than later, as this is a rather boaty lady. Tires and brakes are all new so that's a big :y

Anyway, the C250 section was usually pretty boring, glad to migrate over to this forum. Also happy to have a car I can play with and make my own again. Nothing like turnin wrenches and making something yours!:zoom::naughty::D

Looking good bro! Welcome to torque central. I go through a rear set of tires a year (lately I started to take it easy since I quit my job lol)

Welcome to the club !!!

I love mine and have stated before that to me the car is defined by the engine. The flip side of this is that I live on a hill in Los Angeles, I almost never get 10 MPG as most trips are short and here you go 100ft, stop go 100ft, stop, go 100ft stop. Not best for MPG.

Adding Comand GPS is relatively easy, just be sure to get the right unit. (see my other threads on this, don't buy a unit like the one I am selling)

Thanks for the warm welcomes everybody. I'm getting a bit more "sync'd" up with the car as each day passes, trying my hardest not to fly through gas and tires. Honestly, Comfort mode for the transmission still is a good deal of fun-I'll need to go through a few tanks to see if it makes a difference.

Has anybody had issues with loose-ish windows that kinda slap when you close the door? Certainly want to get that fixed.

Also, I read a few threads about the Sprint Booster, but most everything is a couple years old. Are people still loving them? Seems like there were some complaints about the tranny learning and going back to its old sensitivity.

Haha my first tank is already up--computer says I did about 14.7 lol. But I live in downtown Seattle so a fair amount of stop and go, and not a lot of freeway driving.

Funny you went from a C250 to a CLK 500. I had a C300 sedan, then a C250 coupe and I've been driving a ML 350 for the last 7 or so months through the winter, but I myself am picking up a CLK 500 this weekend with only 38K miles, mostly because it's a v8, but also because I'm getting a great deal.

Any regrets (besides MPG).

I wouldn't even say I regret the MPG. I live in DT Seattle and commute about 4 or 5 miles to the dealership, so I don't drive much. Even with the majority of my driving being city I still get about 17mpg. I actually have been just driving it in C mode since there is so much torque you can just tap your toe and ride away on a wave of thrust. It's just a little soft, I prefered the crisper ride of the C250.

I've always loved the CLKs, always wanted an 05 CLK55 (for quad exhaust :-) ), but hard to find. But great find on your CLK500! enjoy your the modding!
