Wheels and Drop!! ;)

Yidney 07-16-2014 08:40 AM

Is there a % light reduction associated with that like there is with tint? Isn't it noticeable when driving? What is the emblem on you front fenders?

jctevere 07-16-2014 12:08 PM

I don't think that's a tint on the headlight. I just think he had the entire housing interior painted black/glossy black. This is a way to get a black out look, but not affect light output.

Personally, I'm not a fan of it, but to each's own. I would have left a bit of chrome or silver in the housing (perhaps projector / lens ring).

Maybe, but it sure looks like the projector lens itself is behind a tint. That ought to be nice and clear if only the interior is painted black.

thanks ... I have been inspired by this black SL for almost 3 years. it took a long time to coordinate the blacking of the OEM bixenon's (never been done before) and getting the perfect matte grill with distronic

here's the pic that inspired the look

do you think bigger wheels is an absolute necessity when dropping it or would it look fine dropping it with OEM 17's?

reason is I'd like to drop mine but keep the AMG OEM 17's ...

it all depends on your taste mate. My wife's CLK has 19's on em but I didnt bother dropping it (her choice), although the fender gap is very noticeable. if you drop yours with your current 17's, im sure it will look good but IMO, it will look better with a bit bigger wheels. dont forget the ride quality as well. :y

thanks for the input, I'd to keep the wheels to save on tires - the way these cars eat tires I don't feel like spending MORE money on wheels and then even more money on new tires and the cost of 18-19 inch tires - ya feel me? :)

blacked out chrome front

beejAMG 07-19-2014 11:02 PM

Nice! Does it go all the way around? How did you do it? Might as well do the foglight chrome ring if you're goin for the no chrome look.

Thanks midnight AMG. I agree would look great on the car. This shipping is crazy so hopefully I can find another in the states. Thanks again for posting - it looks great. I was not sure if I would like it but I do!:y

hey guys ... truth be told the chrome bit was photoshopped lol.

buuuut I just purchased "pre-dip" for plasti dip which is a chemical that primes the surface of oil and build up. Im going to spray the chrome tomorrow now that I know what all blacked out front looks like
