CLK320 - 18" wheels -> 19" wheels
hello all,
I'm having a CLK 320 here and looking to upgrade my wheels from 18" to 19", I hadn't lower my suspension so for sure it will fit, but I'm concerning on the gas usage, is it will be cost a lot more if I keep it at 19"?
and I'm getting the Mercedes original wheels so for sure not worry the sizes.
Please kindly advice if you having the similar experience, thanks alot!

Going to heavier wheels and/or moving mass outwards from the center of the wheel (increasing and angular momentum) will increase fuel consumption, reduce braking, reduce acceleration even when the rolling diameter is the same.
The effect is sometimes not noticeable but can also be very apparent. Stock wheels are very heavy so it is often easy to move to larger aftermarket wheels while reducing the weight and getting a performance advantage. Going from 18 to 19" stock wheels.... I would look very carefully at the weight of them.
As already pointed out there are many different widths and offsets for stock wheels from different models.

I remember years ago, I was talking to a seasoned merc enthusiast, and I asked about petrol consumption, he just looked at me and answered me with another question, "you're driving a merc and your worried about petrol!?"...
I never talked to my dad about mercs and petrol ever since...

Thank you for sharing everyone... and I'm sure increasing the wheels size will increase the fuel but reduce the performance and brakes. that's common sense because the whole setup is different.
So if someone here is having CLK320 and use 19" wheels, please share your experience, thanks~!!

Hahaha, what i do is i close my eyes and wait for the click when pumping petrol! Kidding asside, my wifes clk has 19's on her and shes not complaining since i changed it from stock. Like i said, its very minimal so just go ahead and do it. It is what it is, unless you change to a 1.3l car...

At the end of the day if you are just cruising around town, doing the daily commute etc it will make no difference to anything except maybe decrease your economy by 0.5%, I would say go for it.
Don't worry I didn't get my 55 to save petrol either and my next car will probably be a 63 something. If however you really like pushing the car, hard cornering, braking etc you will definitely feel a noticeable detrimental difference with heavier wheels.
