Window Wiper Problems

I have already searched but with no real luck

When the window wiper goes across it misses a section of the screen when you first put the wiper back down after lifting the arm its ok for a few goes but hten it starts to miss again, any ideas or is it a dealer call

thanks

Neil -

Wow - I'm surprised that you didn't find anything on a search for wipers. Many people here have been irritated with wiper issues.... chatter, squeal, streaking, missing sections etc..

Just search on "Wipers", you should see numerous comments unless some of the history here has been wiped out.

It' took me 4 visits to the dealer to get mine to work properly. New blades and some significant bending of the wiper arm finally got them working fairly well.

Hi Neil,

Had the same problem as yours, solved it myself, it turned out that the dealers didn't installed the blade in the grooves properly, some sections had "popped out" off the groove. All I did was popped it back in and the blade in better then ever :)

Hope that helps.

Thanks Eich and kaiju, i'll check and make sure it's in correctly, if fails it shail go on my list with other things for a visit to the dealers.

so far the list is: passenger side seat alarm goes off even though no one in it, condensation in the wing mirror housing and the window wipers and driver side window groan.

regards

Neil

Wiper Blade

Neil

The same thing has happened to me twice , apparently its a design fault at the drivers side {They said to me theres not enough weight on the arm & every 4 months or so depending on usage I may need new rubber, Good news is that they are working on a modification & all owners would be advised by letter]

mine is in the shop at the moment, ill keep u posted,

The reason's it gone in for are:

Window Wiper's
Driver side window groan
seat alarm keep going off although no one in the seat
Condensation in the wing mirror passenger side, in led housing.

wipers

hello , I have seen the wipers miss the center section of the window more than it clears it on new cars [c-class and clk]what we do is take off the arms and bend slightly in a vice very neatly and this applies more pressure and spreads out the blade more effectively I have done this to about 30 cars and it works great

That is good, cliffybabe. My dealer couldn't figure it out, so I bent back the blade and it's okay but not perfect. Would miss a section in the middle on/near the bottom of the windshield

same thing i had

Now this is the first that I've heard of a dealer replacing the tension spring. I've thought all along that the tension was one of the main culprits in the poor wiper operation. All my dealer ever did (in 4 attempts) was to bend the hell out of the wiper arm and install new blades. They work decent now but I wonder for how long.

Has anyone else had the tension springs replaced ?
