Exclamation Could be new style AMG rims for 05 plus a recap of the changes

I just saw some pics of the new slk in Europe with the sport package, the 18" yes 18's, AMG rims have been restyled, flatter more aerodynamic shape and spokes extent out to the edge without the curve at the end, looks good. Check out the very latest Autoweek issue.

So the changes to expect for 05 so far:

New center stack

New dash cluster

7 speed auto

New style 18" AMG rims

Sport steering wheel

DVD Navigation

Nano paint (late 04)

Pulls to the "left" for 05 (just kidding)

Kind of reminds me of the big changes from the 99 to 00 CLK's

My 04 takes a BIG hit in depreciation

Send me an e-mail. I think the new SLK AMG will have the multi-spoke wheel like the SL55. IS there another 5 spoke one??

Oh, I see. I guess that wont be available until fall (at the earliest). The car will be delivering in summer and we should have the part number by then. I will always try make myself to be the first one to receive them. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll keep you informed.

My car was a late Jan 04 build and it has the new nano paint. I picked it up at the factory (1st March) and the guy there taking me around the car basically said it had the new paint. So, looks like nano paint (ceramic paint) is already here for the CLK's.

I am saying the 05 clk should have the newly restyled rims, as if the slk gets them so should the clk since they've always shared the same amg rims for the sport package. It even makes more sense since a common complaint MB has been hearing is the 209 is not aggresive enough looking, a bolder 18" wheel would certainly help.

Right as I said in my original post it was a late 04 upgrade for the CLKs. You can find the code either a C or K before the paint numerical code on the door jam or on the underside of the engine hood right in front. Most cars have the C but I saw an 04 CLK55 cab at my dealer last month that had a K before the numerical code. The car was black "040" but it read K040.

My paint code is C197 (obsidian black). I've seen a thread elsewhere where people were debating whether the C meant ceramic - I guess they're right

Apologies RJC I did read your thread properly - just wanted to confirm that what you said was true in a roundabout way

Hi bropa09

So either C or K will represent NANO paint correct?

C=ceramic
K=? what does K stand for?

because the articles outside never mentioned about nano paint on CLKs except few other merc models. is it true?

cheers

Well, all I can say for certain is that the factory guy that showed me around the car said that my car had the new nano paint. I was quite surprised because I thought I wasn't going to get it, and he said that they were all (CLK's) being painted with the new paint now.

My paint code is C197 so I assume it is for the ceramic paint (which is the nano paint - effectively it contains microscopic ceramic particles). Never heard of a K prefix, but RJC has seen one - but I couldn't tell you what it signifies as I have no idea!

Hope that helps you

Will DVD Nav be available.....

on the 05 CLK320? I'm ready to buy the car now but I don't want the CD Nav as I hear it sorta sucks. Would be willing to wait if it means i get the updated COMAND. Anyone know?

Cheers!

I was under the impression that the DVD NAV would only be available on the CLK500. If it's available across the whole line that would be great! Anyone know if this model

http://germancarfans.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=8106

is the 500?

Cheers!

I would be dead surprised if they didn't put it across the entire coupe range. Don't forget, here in the UK a fraction of the CLK's sold are 500's and 55's. Most are 200K, 240, 320, 270 CDi.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, so I wouldn't worry about it as I can't see it happening.
