Took off the oil centrifuge cover
So I took off the oil centrifuge cover and wiped the oil all around the cover, exhaust, O2 sensors, and wherever else I saw oil.
The upstream O2 sensor seemed to get more oil action than the downstream sensor.
How can I tell if my O2 sensors are good or not? (I'm asking now because its easier to access the downstream O2 sensor without the oil centrifuge cover on.)
Were the Oxygen sensors reading inaccurately because of the oil on them/burning around them, causing the engine to run rough?

funnel slipped..
wasn't a leak..I was changing the oil when the funnel slipped..plenty of smoke and that burnt oil smell from oil on the manifold for a few days. I don't know how or if that effected the purge valve. But, since having it fixed the car runs and pulls as good as it ever has.

Bank 2 sensor 1
After changing the oil centrifuge cover the symptoms lessened significantly. I thought they would go away once the oil I didn't wipe burned off. After driving for a couple days, check engine light came back with same codes + the one pictured above. I tested for leaks, didn't find anything, as expected.
Rudeney you you mentioned that the issue was most likely with the connector. How would I go about cleaning it?

i have a gift..
for making a mess and then having to clean that mess up.
was changing the oil in the mower, using a mighty vac, got the oil warmed up, started pumping..the tube came flying out warm lawn mower oil all over the hood and windscreen.
took a while to clean that mess up..you cant make it up.

Changed and O2 sensor and CEL came back
Now I'm completely confused. I changed or checked just about every part that has to do with air/fuel mixture and the CEL still came back.
I changed the bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor (driver's side upstream) (and wasn't fun at all) with a Bosch sensor from Advance Auto. The connectors all looks clean. There was still a little but of oil residue that I couldn't wipe from on top of the car that I wiped-- there's still a little more that I couldn't reach.
The o2 sensor code went away but the running rich codes are still there.
Really truly have have no idea what the problem could still be.
Any idea hiw much Mercedes charges to diagnose a problem like this?

P0172 P0175
Same running rich codes as the beginning. P0172 (bank 1; right bank) and P0175 (left bank; bank 2).
No other codes.

I still believe this is a vacuum leak. I seem to recall someone having similar issues and it turned out he had to replace the intake manifold. Search here, and in the W203 forum, and over at benzworld.

Thanks Rudeney. Any keywords I should look for? I searched for vacuum leak under the W203 forum and found this:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ml#post7034431
It was useful although it didn't ever finish the story.
While going through my scanner I found some menus that I did not use before (still learning how to use all its features even 5 months after I bought it).
Recall at the beginning of this I attempted to test for vacuum leaks with starter fluid and did not find anything. I may not have found anything because I am not experienced in this method.
I also physically tested the purge flow sensor and the data stream for it which both checked out.
I am going to try to find someone with a smoke machine that can test for leaks for me.

Rocman, I hope this is the same thing as what you asked for.
Correct me if I'm wrong. This means that the car thinks 33.7% is the load but 21.6% is the actual load value. Which means that the car is giving enough fuel in combustion to satisfy the needs for 33.7% load, NOT 21.6%.
Does this necessarily mean that there is a leak? I imagine it does.
