Is it possible to remove the sunroof\shade. The sliding shade that is sandwiched below the sunroof and the headliner. Can it be pulled out without removing the headliner? This is for a 2007+ w209 clk 350. thanks

Open the shade fully, then open the glass halfway. There is a plastic trim piece on the bottom front for the glass. Remove it - it's just clipped in place, but beware that its plastic tabs may be brittle so some my break. Once that is removed, you can fully open the glass, and then slide the shade closed with the glass still open. From above, you'll see four slides, two on each side, that sit the tracks. These are spring-loaded so you can press them inward and release them from the track, then the shade comes out through the roof opening.

Ill give this a try. Lmk if theres a video out there that demonstrates this, otherwise ill make an attempt myself.

My shade slides around freely, the detailer broke went and cleaning too aggressively, i might go to the junkyard to practice and to pick out a replacement shade.

Yeah, I wish we had good junk yards around here. The few we do have are pretty much full of old clunkers.

Tilt the rear glass up. Then remover front black plastic cover at the front of the sunroof. The carefully remove left and right rubber waffles I call them pull out gentle . If you break then there are cheep 20.00.
The on each side of the sunroof # 25 torx screws . Push the sunroof up and out. Slide the sunroof slider forward. Look for 4 plastic clips at each corner and push them inward while lifting up and then slide the slider more forward to get the rears ones and you are done . When you install it back push the clips inward and it will drop in the track and stay in , you will understand when you so it .Most important !! slide it back THEN install the sunroof and test .

How do I remove the front plastic trim? Are there tabes in the middle or is it only attached on the side. I really don’t wanna break this piece so can someone please tell me how they did it.
