2004 CLK 500 Reliability

How reliable is it? Might buy one with 130,000 miles for $4900. Is that a goods deal?

Could be ok deal or a terrible deal, depends on its previous maintenance. Find an indy with Mercedes-Benz experience to ck it out for you. My wife's 04 CLK500 has over 313,000 miles on it, and is extremely reliable, but I have a strict maintenance schedule.
We could jump in it anytime and drive anywhere in the country and back without concern.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
That car will have an M113 V8 engine 722.6 5-speed AT. With proper maintenance, that is a bulletproof combination. The worst problems will be the possibility of leaky valve cover seals on the engine, or a leaky pilot bushing on the transmission electrical connector. Both are very easy and permanent repairs (use genuine parts on those).

1911, I’d love to get some details on the maintenance schedule you’ve got going on. Sounds great. What parts have you replaced and when in the lifetime of the vehicle??

Most (if not all?) pre-MY2008 cars with 22.9 7GTRONIC transmission will require a conductor plate replacement. Unless you are into some major electronics hacking, it's a dealer-only job to the tune of $1400. Of course it's always possible that it has already been done - I'd have a dealer check the VMI to find out. Another problem with the 722.9 is the fluid pumps used a sleeve bearing that would wear and become noisy. Some will actually dig into the magnesium bell housing surface and "self destruct' but that's fairly rare. I'm not sure when that problem was corrected, but I think after MY2008.
