It's a MY 2006, so yes.

Thanks

Thanks, I guess I was hoping that since it has 124,000 miles on it, it's been ok. I'm just looking for a safe, SUV sized car for my 16 year old. Any suggestions on good, old Mercedes?

High mileage is not a sign that the balance shaft is OK - some failed at 20K miles, some failed at over 120K miles. I understand wanting to find a safe car for your teen driver, and MBZ's certainly fit that bill. Just make sure that you know what you are getting into. MBZs, even older ones, are some of the most technologically advanced cars on the road. They will require some additional maintenance and repairs that other car won't, If you don't DIY, and don't have the tools (including a proper MBZ-specific scan tool), then you can easily spend thousands of dollars a year keeping an older MBZ running.

As for a choice for a 16yo, the W164 ML350 is probably a good one, but it does have a higher center of gravity which can make it less safe in certain types of accidents. Also, it gives him more room to fill with rowdy friends who will distract him. A car might be a better choice. The older W203 C-Class might be a good choice. Those cars are the simplest MBS out there and they are built like tanks. The C240 engine and transmission will last a lifetime. For a more modern version, the W204 C280 4MATIC (MY2008 or later, so to be beyond the balance shaft problems) is a good choice.
