Looking at a 2003 CLK500 today... anything to look for?
Hey guys...I am usually over on the W204 forum but we love our 2014 C250 coupe so much, I am looking for a car to use as a daily driver.
I am looking at a CLK500 in the cool GREEN BLACK METALLIC color...
Can anyone Carfax this? WDBTJ75J43F059640
anything I should look for? They say they have service records. Should a timing chain have been replace? Tranny flushed at a certain point?
109XXX miles
any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Chaz

2005 CLK500 Cabriolet
All I can say is take a slow look through the maintenance files. I wish the 2005 I bought last winter had them, as I would love to know "where I am" in the maintenance department.
Look for plugs/wires replaced, trans flush, brakes etc.
Happy with mine, but it would be nice to know a little more about the history around service.

The timing chain is built to last the life of the engine. The transmission was sold as sealed for life, but really should have a fluid and filter change every 70K miles at least. That car has the M113 engine and 722.6 transmission which are built to last and have no particularly chronic problems to worry about. The seals on the valve cover may leak, but that's an easy job to fix. The transmission electrical connector seals can leak, but that's also easy. The original Valeo radiator would mix transmission fluid and coolant, so that should be replaced with a revised model (usually by Behr). Sometimes the transmission conductor plate needs to be replaced, but it's not terribly expensive and can be DIY.

That’s probably the best review I could ask for Rodney. Thank you. Every car and engine combo is unique. This gives me insight. BIG THANKS
