Headunit screen film removal?

the layer of plastic started coming off my CLK's headunit LCD. so the other day I tried to rip off the whole thing but a little piece of it won't come off. I tried to use heat gun but no dice and a plastic opener tool which ended up scratching up the LCD surface. the piece that won't come off are on the top left corner and the 2 round pieces in the middle. Anyone know how I can remove this?

It's not meant to be removed. Your screen is pretty much ruined. II think someone actually found a source for new screens. If not here, try the W203 forum (and also check benzword).

I found the new screen:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/18186278524...1&isGTR=1#shId

Now that I know i can get a new screen I will try salvaging my current screen again knowing I can buy a new one.

I think some people claim the delamination is due to cleaners used, but I think it's just a defect in the plastics used that deteriorate over time. I'm glad you found the part. I do remember a couple of guys replacing theirs and it didn't not seem to be too bad of a job - just pull the radio out of the dash and remove the radio outer housing to access the screen.

That's a great find! I still have one of these COMAND's with a melted screen in my basement; might be worth repairing it and selling it.....

my mistake - it's from two cars ago! what is it again, Audio 20?

EDIT: doesn't appear that anyone's looking for an Audio 20 HU in the classifieds as it turns out....
