2009 CLK550 cabriolet - Drivers seat

So the wife’s Merc is having a issue where if she puts the drivers seat forward then the car will not detect it once put back into driving position. Usually done when the kids hop in the back. If she slams the seat back it will then say the seat is good.

Could this his be a faulty sensor or alignment issue.

thank you for help in advance.

My guess is it's a sensor. It's probably part # 2098201210: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info2/2098201210.htm (or try ebay)

Please verify this, though, since my answer is based solely on a cursory Google search.

I was curious because I also have this issue on occasion. If I tilt the seat forward and back again, it fixes itself (so far), just like your wife's car. No slamming is necessary on mine (so far), so I wonder if the slamming is making the issue worse?

No idea how much of a hassle it is to change the part.

First of all, if no one has said so yet, "Welcome!"

Second, I'm calling DHR because putting anyone - even children - the back seat of a CLK cabriolet is pure torture! :)

Seriously, yes, the limit switch that registers that the seat is locked can act finicky. Slamming it seems to work. Others have used some contact cleaner on it and say that helps.
