Clk500 no go in drive, help
Hello members. 2003 clk500 145k km on odo. Third owner. Early today going 80kmh in drizzle. Floored it to overtake..car kicked down and surged (you know how fun that is right?) Sensation of wheels spinning then nothing, no foreward motion. Pulled over and shut off motor, nerves shot. Restated engine revs fine shifted into D and car proceeded to move foreward but very slow because did not want to cause more damage (hoping it was rubber coupling) made it home, it shifted into second whilst driving felt vibrations.
any ideas?

Well...after ignoring the car for a few days I checked ATF with (curtain rail spring) and seemed low. I bombed half pint fluid in. Started and it drove just fine. No warning lights etc. But irritating whine seems to be coming from back of motor get louder with rpm.

Ok ok...may have found the cure, I pulled belt, started, no shrieks. Feel pulleys, idler and tensioner have play. Opened for autopsy...dry bearings. Replaced. On the road again.
