IMHO, a serious buyer could get the car for invoice. These 209s are depreciating way too fast. Could it be that MB is building too many of them? I guess no one wants an $80,000 CLK when they can get one for $40,000 with a weak engine. And now the CLK350 is coming out...oh well.

2003 CLK430 Cabriolet
a few months ago i was thinking about upgrading to the new bodystyle. Beverly Hills MBZ was advertising ALL 2005 CLK500's in stock (I think they had 8 or 9) for $5,000 off.

Walking into the dealership, they immediately went up to $6,000 off sticker.
They didn't have any in stock that worked for me, but when I asked the sales manager about CLK55's, he indicated that he would do 6 or 7,000 off the convertible in stock - new 2005.

I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet, but these cars are definitely being discounted - at least in SoCal.

sold.
According to Edmunds and KBB the CLK55 is supposed to depreciate less than almost any other car on the market. But still for some reason they are selling below sticker and more near invoice. I think there's just too much supply and too little demand? Maybe that's the reason they're negotiating a lot. If you're going to a dealer that won't budge below sticker, go out of town - I guarantee you'll get a better deal elsewhere

2002 CLK55 Cabriolet (DEAD: 1989 300E, 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible)
I am trying to keep my 2002 in pristine condition and as low miles as possible ... after seeing the last Barrett-Jackson auction on TV and watching as ridiculously ugly cars that only White Trash drove in my youth (442's, Barracudas, etc.) went under the gavel for obscenely high prices I am trying to convince myself that a pristine W208 might be valued for the thing of beauty it is come 20-30 years from now (if I'm still alive then, that is) ...

Of course, given my luck they'll become as worthless as my '89 300E is now ... lol (insert "I shoulda bought Apple stock 2 years ago when I seriously considered it" whinge here )
