Here is a closeup of righthand side of rear bumper where we made the cutout for the exhaust.

I especially like the spoiler. I think the stock W209 cabrio looks exactly like the Volvo V70 cabrio. The DTM spoiler breaks up the boring line and gives the car a really nice look.

Just got my bumper done to get the quad look like Robertus. Found 2 AMG tips from the classifieds and had them mounted. Not quite as nice a ride as his but I like it!

Is it me or on the convert the inner AMG tail pipe does not have the AMG etching on it..... that's the only way I can tell if it's fake or not. Other than that very beautiful car.

Hi,
The 2 oem tips I ordered from MB did not have AMG on them, there answer was that the replacement tips with AMG on them were not available and that if I wanted them I would have to order the complete muffler with the tips attached. That would cost several thousand of dollars just to be able to cut them off the muffler to use them, so I accepted these until such time I come across a set, no hurry.
The money I saved I am going to put towards headers.

The tough part was having the bumper cover modified. I took it off following directions on a thread on the benz world site (real easy if you are adventurous...fold back inner liner...9 bolts and it's off...do a search for rear bumper by thrillkill). Most body shops did not want to touch the modification because they said that they could not plastic weld. I found a place in RI (http://www.jjbumpers.com/) that sells a lot on ebay. All they do is repair bumpers for body shops. They exactly copied my OEM cutout on the left and fabricated a duplicate mirror cutout on the right. I'm fussy and I can not tell that it is not original. I got the AMG tips from a MB member(he has another AMG set but not the same 2002 tip). I wanted original tips so that they would match the left side. I welded them to a plate that I fabricated (has the profile of a muffler looking from the rear). I then attached the assembly to the back side of the spare wheel well. It took a little time to get the right alignment but not difficult. I primed everything and covered the plate with undercoating to match the bottom of spare tire well. Almost forgot...had to cut off the tow bar (easy cut...never hook anything to it...it came off in 30 seconds)

Hi cindyclk,
Do I understand this right, the two exhaust tips on the rightside (looking at the back of the CLK) are not actually attached to the exhaust, they are there for looks only?
On my CLK55 AMG Cabrio I have actually attached the two extra tips to the exhaust sytem, I removed the standard AMG muffler and replaced it with a 3" input high flow sport muffler with two x 2 and a half inch outputs. I then put a "Y" on each output and attached the tips.

That is correct. The addition of the 2 extra tubes would have had neglible HP gain using my stock AMG exhaust. I did not want to add the additional cost by buying another exhaust.

Well that is what is great about ice cream...everyone likes a little different flavor. Personally, I think that Lorinser designed products are as far from ricer as you can get. Some people put what I consider ugly front bumpers ( http://benzworld.org/gallery/pics/12...04123653PM.JPG) on their cars that I think much more ricer than a roof wing. It would be very boring if all we saw was stock silver or black CLKs.

Why don't you come into the W208 430/320 room and see how many members have this exact same bumper as I do? lol. I guess we ALL must be ricers in that forum...hahahha.
As far as what you say about who manufactured the ricer wing.....it doesn't make a difference if Lorinser or RICER.COM manufactured that wing.....rice is rice.
Like I said in my previous post : the car looks great! just get rid of that ricey wing.

Hi All,
To get one thing straight, the wing on my car was not made by a Rice Manufacture, it is a hand made copy of the DTM wing and is made by MKB in Germany who actually produce this wing for the C Class MB's as well.
Now if its good enough for the Cabrio DTM and AMG its good enough for me, on top of that it cost $3270 installed compared to the lip spoiler that sticks on for $90 and does bugger all in down force at 150mph.

Am I the only one who is going to disagree and say "lose the wing" ? I think it ruins the clean lines of a convertible with the top down. Otherwise everything else on the car is great.

True, the DTM race model cars have the exact same wing, however, those cars are being raced on the track on a daily basis, so the down force it creates for the rear of the car is needed. For you to say that if it is good enough for those cars so it's good enough for yours does not make sense.....
I mean, when you drive to the local supermarket, cruising at a speed of, let's say 35-45MPH, do you really need that down force????
like i keep on saying.......rice rice rice rice
and like i stated in my previous posts: your car is SICK! just get rid of that wing.
and to CINDY .... I guess all 50+ members of the W208 NON-AMG forum that have the same Carlsson RS kit are ricers huh? LOL
to each his own!
