Guy that lives across the street from my kids school has a clean C300 sport and an MB flag and various posters. Every other day he's outside when I arrive to pull into the school in one of my C43's, staring me down for some reason. Two weeks later had an AMG badge on his car. On one hand, yeah cool another C class fan. But on the other I just get a little sad. I feel like a douche, but still just want to tell him he's not fooling anyone and diluting the AMG name. Gorgeous C300, though.
If you get a chance in conversation, you should ask him who built his engine. If he says "what to you mean" you can tell him to look for the plaque with the signature of the builder on his engine and tell him that all AMGs are signed by the engine builder.

But didn't they start putting plaques on the engines after the C43 anyways?

Just goes to show you, to drive an AMG, some of us will pay out the rear, the rest will just take it in the rear.
Iv'e been in the car business for over 10 years and purchased/leased 5 vehicles from MB of Rocklin. The dealership doesn't put these AMG badges on lol. They come straight from the factory. If it has an AMG kit they put AMG next to the CLS500/550, E550 etc..and of course if it's an AMG with a motor it will have the CLS63., E63 etc to the left. AMG is primarily the engine but it also has to do with their appearance package as well. So I think the people who buy it like that are OK. BUT....if you put an AMG badge fronting like it has the engine and its fast as ****, thats annoying. Iv'e ran into people who have a CLS550 w/ an AMG badge and say "I got the AMG" "It's got more horsepower" when I have to correct these idiots that it simply means you got the body kit and wheels without the engine. Those people annoy me who think they have an AMG engine and don't. To wrap this up, If you're a real AMG owner, people on the roads will know when they see your tai-lights disappear into the horizon. And people who bought the car with AMG on there due to the package or added it and front like its the AMG engine inside should all just trade their car in and buy a VW passat
