K & N for CLK 55?

I'm wondering if K & N air and oil filters are worthwhile for my 2001 CLK 55. Have any of you have experienced performance benefits or are the stock filters something that shouldn't be changed?

i put them in mine. looks great, but nothing very noticeable performance wise. i did it in the end run to save money, fewer filter changes.

I'm up for new air filters too. I'll probably go with K&N.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Once again

skewed numbers from k/n a 2001 clk55 was rated 342 hp at 5500rpm and 376 ft lb torque at 3000 rpm
for $17 ea keep the oem filter proven to flow more air then either k/n or green and keep your engine happy.

From various threads, I see a lot of people getting bad MAF after install. It is probably from over oiling the filters. Stick with OEM

I was actually pretty impressed with the chart there. Of course, there is no "proof" that the graph is inaccurate. I think those #s look ok for rwhp and rwtq on a factory 208?

3.7 hp increase? I would have expected 10-15whp to make that investment (and risk of a damaged MAF) worthwhile.

Anybody know what the standard deviation is on a dyno? If it is greater than 1%, theoretically there would be no increase in whp??

The biggest advantage to me seems to be

1. better sound
2. do not have to change the Filter for the next 10 years ....

to get the housing off is a pain in the ...

it was actauly pretty easy to get the housing off.Just some clips holding it in place. Then a few screws that come off and voila!

I replaced mine with the Greens.
I think, that with the Catback exhaust and the filters, the car does seem more sharp, especially @ higher speeds.
But that might be a mental thing too

the graph shows a pretty significant (and steady) increase in HP over the mid rpm range, which is pretty impressive for $80-90. it's not just about peak hp. looks like close to a constant 10 hp increase from 3600-5000.

My question is why it comes out plotted in excel wth so few data points. this doesn't look like most dyno charts i see.
