Test Drove the 03 CLK55
Silver with Charcole
First impression of the car was that it feels much tighter than my 2001. Power is good but it did feel a bit slower than my current car.
My sales guy thought I was joking when I pulled out my G-Tech...... I wasn't but the car was not broken in so I had to be considerate of the purchaser (as it will not be me just speced my E55)
The car had the older 5 spoke wheels not the new two spoke design.
Overall it is sharp. If anyone is looking for one at MSRP it is ready to go. The guy that ordered it backed out based on the trade in value they were going to give him.
While I was at the dealer they took a 2001 CLK55 in trade. Had some damage that was hidden behind a painted hood and fender with 14K miles. They gave the owner 41K..... 41K....... 41K.......
WTF. The dealers are letting the auctions dictate the prices of our trades and it is driving me crazy. Someone here needs to get a lisence to buy at the auction. They are pushing the prices of cars down at auction then selling them for normal retail prices on their lots. Guess it is just the American way....
Let me know if you want an 03 CLK at MSRP and I will get you to my Sales Guy.
Happy Driving
btw the double spoke will only be 17s on the CLK55.
The car had 18's on it and I was told the the twin spokes for the CLK55 were 18's as well.
I currently have an 01 CLK55 with a new E55 on order.
The handling was a bit tighter on the new model. The most impressive part was the new brakes, they are incredible. The car felt better balanced than mine. My only dissapointment was in the power dept. from a 60 MPH roll it did not feel the same.
I did love the steering wheel manual buttons. The shifts are much cleaner than in the 01.
The W211 E55 will be a killer amongst killers.
The price was $73k with command and C4, silver.
The wheels twin spokes as my C32, 17' the same.
The exhaust tail is bigger than the C32.
The speedo clocks are beatiful, but
just 160 mph, no 180 as the C32.Also the CLK55 has controur sits as my old C43.
Finally, it has the same pedals that a 03'SL500.
The price is no with Premium!!
and also at the store was a Sweet! '03 CL55 black and 18' twin spokes $120k.

According to the official MBZ 2003 clk brochure the clk 55 will and is coming with double spoke 17's, I did not see a factory option for 18's. I did see the new 55 last evening pulling in to a parking lot and it too had 17's the car sounded great and the cabin looked great lit up in the speacial blue lighting for the 55. BTW I think 18's should have been standard for 70+!

Just look at M3, it has 18s and it looks good with em. The NEW S4 will have 18s too. I just don't get what the heck is MB/AMG thinking.
