"and why does E have a better interior?! becuz its supposed to be a nice sedan and also it supposely is the best selling mb model(210)
amd why does the SL have a better interior?! cuz its costing you a fortune."

Yeah, but none of these cars are bargain basement prices - I think the thing most are implying is that the quality went down with the new model. Personally there are some things I like better in the 209 - the climate control, for example, seems like a higher grade. I agree completely that the SL should feel over the top when you get in, but yeesh, for $70K + or - you should get some pretty nice appointments as well.

Note: I'm mot saying you don't, mind you - I haven't been in a 209 yet!

At the recent E-Motion event here, there was a full display of ALL of the new MB models.

In the line-up. receiving the least amount of attention was the new CLK.

The E-Class took a giant leap forward, unfortunately the CLK did not.

A missed mopportunity by MB.

getting rid of the b-pillar IS a giant leap for the CLK-class. The E did take a bigger step than the CLK. But both model transformed from boxy style to more rounded.

There is no question, that the new CLK had technological advances. However, the additional weight is not.

Moreover, perhaps the expectations were too high for a really innovative design/aesthetic statement.

It is in this area, that the new 209 CLK falls short, because it is a "mix and match" design.

yeah, it's not just minor, it's actually tiny bit difference...lol...seats, silver speedo surround, steering wheel, and C32 on the gear lever.

hehe...actually I also checked out the E-class while I was at the dealership last time. The new climate control's two turn **** on each side feels quite cheap, but it's really easy to use. I love that pop up storage bin behind the wood trim. Very Cool...!!
yo frank but the center console is the same model right?!

Hey tango, pay no attention to Karl, I think he gets a rise out of bothering people. Karl's the type of person who only appreciates the things he owns or uses, anything else is second best. I bet he thinks his 55 was the best ever made. I've seen him argue over waxes, radar detectors, etc., whatever he uses is the best, end of the story. It's like that kid in high school making fun and pointing out other peoples short comings just to make themselves feel better.

Anyway, I must say after seeing the pictures of the 209, I wasn't impressed, but it is much nicer looking car in person.

Why is the 208 so well built? I think because Schatz builds them, not MB. Is this true?

Don't know who Schatz is??? But there are 208's that have their share of problems too. Look, the 209 has good and bad points as does the 208, both are great cars. Maybe the next generation will take use best attributes of both and make one phenominal car. I'm a current 208 owner and I look forward to my new 209...only time will tell and you know I'll keep all of you posted.

Some morons can't see the validity of another point of view, because of obvious lack of experience, jealosy and many other shortcomings.

Consequently, those individuals resort to ad hominem tactics - cheap shots,- the only thing left in their very limited repertoire.

Karl - There is nothing wrong with another point of view, you have the right to state what you think and hopefully do it in a non-biased way based on personal experiences. However all of your posts continue to rag on the 209. We get it, you are happy with your 208 and wouldn't swap it out with a 209 even if MB payed you. I actually agree with you but you only have to state it once and your point is noted.

On a lighter note, I'm very impressed with the latin phrase.

I'm 50% agree with kark k and 50% with tango and FrankW

side view - W208 are far superior to the W209

front view - W209 (W208 does look outdated)

Back view - W209 (again, just a little)

Overall Look- I pick W208

W209 - Drive compare to my Ex-CLK430

I felt more notable horses under the hook and it also accelerates a little faster.
She definitely stiffer and the steering is much more crisper too.
It’s a lot more responsive handling than the previous CLK 430.... BUT... I still like my EX-CLK430 more even it's look a little outdated

THIS IS WHAT I OBSERVE - Its quite funny

Some like the front view and then say it looked like the new SL; other dislike it and they're say it looked like a C-Class/C-Coupe… Funny, isn’t it???

On a personal note: When next generation CLK/CLE come around I will dump my current CLK500 like my nephew's used diaper.
