CPS Sensor? - no start issue
My 2004 CLK55 over the last few weeks has sometimes took a few times to turn over before starting. Almost like no fuel.
Well today, I pull in the convenience store, come back out and car will not start. Battery is strong and turns over very good but car does not even try to run. After sitting for about 20 minutes and looking at the manual I go to the trunk and pull the fuel pump fuse(looks good) and I reinstall. Several minutes later car starts! There is now a check engine light on. Car runs great like it always did. I took it home immediately and grabbed my audi s4.
Reading the forum it appears the cam position sensor is a likely culprit. I am pretty handy working on my cars so feel confident I can replace quickly. Can someone post a pic or describe where this sensor may be?
I may just go ahead and order one and replace. I will also go to a local independent and have my codes pulled.
Any other possible culprits also appreciated.
TIA

Hi,
I would think it is the crank (not cam) position sensor. A common problem with the V8's. I also had the same problem too, a week after having purchased my 43 Had it changed by the MB dealer as it can be tricky to change (not very visible at the back end of the engine) with lots of feel and not see type of DIY.
