Nurburgring for the USA

I found this onleftlanenew and wanted to pass the info on to Mbworld.

Uploaded with ImageShack.usLas Vegas, Nevada, is the only place in the world where tourists can wander around New York City, see France’s Eiffel Tower, and visit the Italian city of Venice all in the same day. These attractions are part of the scaled-down replicas that the city is famous for.

For its next replica, Las Vegas is looking towards Germany, and is currently negotiating a deal that, if approved, would clone Germany’s Nürburgring track.

Bruton Smith, the CEO of Speedway Motors, announced in an interview on SiriusXM Sports that he had been contacted by “some Germans and what not” to build an exact replica of the Green Hell right outside of Sin City.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but Smith said that if the track is built, it will be completely independent from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The two will likely be anywhere from five to ten miles apart, and the ‘Ring will not run around the Speedway.

The track’s exact location was not given, but Smith mentioned that the Nevada Bureau of Land Management has offered to donate 8,000 acres of land to the project.

Endurance racing fans shouldn’t get their hopes up quite yet: according to Smith, the 13.7-mile-long track would not be used to hold races. Instead, it would be a test track aimed primarily at manufacturers, but also open to the public.

What remains to be seen is if Nevada’s governing body gives the track the green light.

“If they really want it, we’re gonna go out there and we’re gonna build it,” declared Smith.

I would seriously drive to NV from TN for the privilege if built.

As someone else stated, not holding my breath, but definitely thinking wishfully

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupé
It would cost way too much to do it right: 14 miles of track and huge elevation changes. And then they would have to add hundreds of humidifying misters to duplicate the early morning slickness ....
