CLK 55 ALTERNATOR OR WHAT? HELP!

I need help. My car (CLK 55 w209). Has had a problem that I cannot find. Ive replaced the alternator 2 times because it was generating 17.1 volts. The second only lasted 3 months had to replace cause it would also generate 17.2-.volts and today I finished installing the THIRD. After installation I know have the "light pulsing syndrome" and sometimes It doesn't flicker.

It doesn't unlock/lock doors at a distance; only intermittently VERY close to the car's handles.

I also have the SRS light on but I think I found out why srs wasn't working... ( broken orange cable under driver's) heated seats doesn't work on drivers seat. And cannot adjust headrest (up n down)

I think its the rear SAM but I really do not know for sure.

If someone has knowledge, advise or ideas please reply.
thanks!

PS CLK 55 W209 82276Mi on the Odometer.

That sounds like a defective SAM.

Do you know if the alternator is controlled by the front SAM ??

If you PM me your VIN I will check WIS for alternator wiring, if it goes thru front SAM. I would go there first.

Have you done a visual inspection of the front SAM?

Sometimes it is wet or has connectors loose ???

I will check the front sam right now! I will pm u the vin number, thanks for your help!

Disconnect all batteries...

Dmtypr 09-22-2014 03:05 PM

Why disconnect the battery?

I already checked the front sam, I was looking at it but I did not really knew what to look at. It all seem okay.. Is there anything specific??

Dmtypr 09-22-2014 03:06 PM

fuse's?

jerryt 09-22-2014 03:29 PM

My last two car's the front SAM is under the fuse box. Disconnect battery before lifting up the fuse box...

Dmtypr 09-22-2014 03:30 PM

any instructions?

Water leaks, broken wires, dirty connector, burnt components, insects ...

Remove each connector (Battery disconnected) and inspect each pin. A lot of issues go away when the connectors are re-seated.

The sam is under the fuse box no? How to do I get there?

I can only tell you about the two models I have owned
1998 C280 and 2012 SLK250

I don't know about a CLK w209 AMG, but most likely it is under the fuse box. Maybe a CLK w209 owner can verify ???

On both of my cars, you removed the four screws holding the fuse block down and then lifted it up. The sam was attached to the back side of this block.

Start by determining the P/N and visual picture of the SAM, and then look for a part which matches the P/N and picture...

https://www.google.com/search?q=CLK+...w&ved=0CFcQsAQ

Appears to be attached to the bottom of the fuse block, if the alternator is wired into this SAM, i would get another known good SAM before disassembling the fuse box...

Or you could go in there for just the P/N

The SAM has to be re-programmed to your car if I understand correctly, but this beats changing alternators...

NOTE, if it has BCM in it's description, then it is also the "Battery Control Module" and it controls the alternator.

I had to replace my front SAM and it did not have to be programmed
Just plug and play
