Tested CLK55, doors are very very heavy...
test drove 2003 CLK 55 coupe.
36.000 miles
very very good condition. One owner.
the major problem has been the heavy doors.
the moment I tried to open the door it felt darn heavy.
Is there a lightweight door, does CLK63 have lighter doors?
Other than doors, it felt nice, torquey, V8 sounds awesome, lack of B pillars makes CLK a sleek car. I liked it but the doors, they are very heavy.

The effort it takes to close the door doesn't have much to do with structure folks, it's more the hinge/angle you pull from. This isn't 1950.
I test drove a C55 and noticed a Mercedes-like weight/thud as it closed, but nothing I'd call bad or heavy. Certainly more weight/solid feeling then my mom's 95 E300D though. Haven't even sat in a CLK, sorry.

It has long doors being a coupe and no structure surrounding the window. It is going to be heavier than a c class. I haven't noticed any problems closing them, just the nice thud same as my C32, doesn't require excessive effort.

never had an issue and never noticed or considered them to be heavy. But than again I have been driving a benz for 14 years. I actually find it comforting that the door is heavy. I always comment on cars that have little doors and feeling less safe.

Dont want to sound arrogant, the only negative part has been the doors.
Other than doors, I like W209 CLK55 a lot.
Just pondering whether to add it to the stable or not. Its got 37.000 miles on it and very clean..
