Esp defective visit workshop
Hi all,
Hope you can help me.
My car is a 2004 clk 55 amg 80000km, everything was fine until last week.
I was driving it a it just turn off.
I've took it to a garage and they are not sure what it is, but probably is unit control.
They say some times the car is fine and for no reason it turns off.
Any guesses??

Had same message, turned out to be the brake light switch.
Though this could be anything from an yaw sensor, to a wheel speed sensor... Best bet is to find someone with an SDS machine to diagnose what the real issue is.

ESP message shouldn't turn the car off though, there might be something else going on. Have you replaced the crank position sensor (CKP) recently?
It's common to get faults in other modules when a required input is missing, in this case, the ESP is looking at engine speed via the CAN, if it's not there, it sets a fault in the ESP even though there isn't an actual issue with ESP, but it can't do it's job if it isn't getting all the information it needs.
A bad CKP would explain the random shutting down, and they don't always set a P0335 code when they fail.
