CLICKING NOISE UNDER DASHBOARD CLK 500 2004
Hi, I need help to find out what is a clicking noise, something like a relay that started recently under the dashboard of my CLK 500 2004.
It starts after I shut off the engine and last like 10 or 15 seconds making the clicking noise then stops until the next time I stop the engine.
The A/C on or off did not make any difference. The only work done recently was adding some freon R134 to the A/C.
The car and the A/C run OK othrtwise.
Any sugestions or method to trouble shoot this ?
Thanks in advance

If its the typical clicking, its from the vent motors. Its a pretty common problem on the early CLKs. There is a method of trying to reset them that I believe has fixed the problem for some people. Most I believe end up replacing it tho. Im sure there are some threads on the problem, but Ill have to look later. Leaving work now! HAHA

I heard this a couple of times but I have a yard full of trees and a leaf sometimes gets into the wrong place.
On another note: heard a Humming on one of my other cars under the hood. Started unplugging relays and fuses until the noise went away. just a hunch.
Cheers

It's usually the linkage arm for one of the flap motors. The plastic linkage cracks and the click is it skipping on the motor shaft (hex drive). I've done a few dozen but for a first timer you'd probably be better off having a pro at your local dealer do it. You could end up breaking things on disassembly and it'll take you 10x as long. The part is real cheap, probably 3 hours or so labor.
