my rant on keyless go

i got 2 problems with KEYLESS GO

1. I keep losing my keys when i use it loll

2. i rarely use the key anymore so it stopped charging the remote and i had to manually open the doors

what charges the remote?

If you're talking about the key, I don't believe it gets charged. It has a lithium round disk shaped battery that you need to replace if it goes dead.

I think it's the BMW keys that get charged when in the ignition. There are no metal contacts on the mercedes smartkey.

wow . so this sucks it shouldnt die that fast should it?

Mercedes recommends chaning the batteries out 2 times a year.

thats ghey, reallllllly ghey

my BMW would charge by itself!

Yes. The BMW key is a great idea. BMW also uses their keys to pull data about the owner for service needs, etc.

Seems to be hit and miss as far as the battery goes. On our S, the first smartkey battery died within the first few months. We replaced the battery and has been working fine since then (2-3 years).

So I wouldn't worry about it too much and the battery is really easy to replace.
