Epic BS Sc vs BS Sc!

Unbeleivable night with 2-Supercharged Blacks running sid-by-side. I'll let the owners tell the story. It was unreal

You could hear Jr's car having a slight hiccup in the run. This was not his quickest of the night.

Great job by the Weistec guys.:y

was it 10.8 vs 10.9 ??

jrcart 08-20-2011 06:04 PM

Las Vegas, Consistant 10.9s all night, Earl laid down an impressive number but I will let him share that with you guys. The DA was over 5000ft. It was HOT, HOT, HOT, 92 degrees still at 10:00 pm. This was a street shootout event, no water in the burnout box and no VHT sprayed down either. Once again conditions sucked but the fact that all passes were VERY consistant is a positive that we can take away from the event.

I might have missed it, but how has the black car been modified (besides blower)? We know and appreciate all the feedback from JR.

That's Earls car (ecampbell) who is a forum regular, if he cares to share his list of mods that's up to him, not my place to announce what's been done to it. What I can tell you is the cars were running completely different tire and wheel combos, JRCART/silver/far lane was running 17" slicks with skinnies upfront, ecampbell/black/near lane was on 16" slicks and skinnies. Props and congrats to Earl, he figured the car and set-up out in no time. 10.anything in those conditions on a non-prepped track is awesome.

Props to you both for being the guinea pigs. Have you taken your car to the track yet with this setup? If so can you chime in on that experience?

When you say "track" I assume you are meaning a road course, right? Car has not been on a road course with the Weistec SC. I will have up at Road America in Mid Oct, I will report back once that happens.

Incredible sight. Well done guys, congrats!

Here is the weather data for LVMS on August 19th by the hour. Data is very accurate taken form Nellis Air Force base NOAA Station approx 6 miles from track.

So that's why my transmission is making those funny noises...

The problem is the BS rear suspension doesn't squat enough for better weight transfer. If you bring the ride height up a bit and soften the rear shocks it will help traction at the drag strip.

This is true, however Earl/ecampbell was running all stock BS suspension on these passes. His 16" softwall drag rear wheel/tire combo puts alot more sidewall on the tire thus allowing more give and squat, in his case the tire is doing more of the work than the suspension and probably the bigger factor. I am running 17's which obviously have more sidewall than a Corsa but less sidewall than Earls's set-up. I am running re-valved OEM BS rear shocks with slightly softer spring. Furthermore we are running 15-17psi in these tires, optimum for a Corsa at the strip is about 21psi. BTW, I have a set of 16's on their way which shuold help my launch a bit more, I need to get back down to the 1.5x 60 foot times. There is nobody on the planet that could launch one of these things with street suspension and Corsas on the street the way we are launching in the video. Even though the track prep worse than bad it is still 10 times better than any conditions you will find on a public road. 1.6x 60fts in our cars are not great but not terrible, a 1.6x on a Corsa would be impossible in one of these 650+rwhp beasts and near impossible on even a 500rwhp car with stock suspension.

I absolutely agree with you that on street tires and stock, or even worse, a modified road course suspension set up, you'll never be able to hook up like you guys did at the strip. For the street, a lot will also depend on ambient temperature and having some heat in the tires, as the corsa's are almost like hard plastic if not warmed up. First gear is pretty much useless, and even second gear has traction issues. Works great on a road course though, so it's a small compromise, at least for me.

Maybe it's just my eyes that suck, or it's the difference between the 16's and your 17's, but it seems to me that your car is a tad lower than ecampbell's. Maybe you can chime in on that. I assume you're running the softer/taller stock springs, and with them you could bring up the ride quite a bit in the rear for better weight transfer.

Since you guys run pretty much the same mods engine wise, I also agree with you that the taller sidewall on the 16's is the way to go. With a 1.5x 60fts, a better prepared track and some cool air, you should be in the low 10's later this year. Looks like the package performs great, now it's just a matter of dialing everything in to get the most out of it.

Anyway, enough blah blah blah from me. Congrats on your achievement!!!
