REVIEW: Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series - A Purist’s Dream

It's said the Germans often forgo passion in exchange for clinical perfection. After spending a day behind the wheel of the first-generation Black Series, we beg to differ.

(This Black Series also happens to be for sale.)

Great write up on Neo! This is a excellent example of the CLK63 Black Series... a legend in its own rite.

Nice write up

There is one or 2 things that are not totally accurate according to me.

The fisrt generation of Black Series was the SLK 55 BS.
The CLK BS engine produce 507 HP at 7200 RPM
Even if AMG does not communicate officially about the production numbers,it seems that 700 were produced with 367 for the US market (no carbon door panels and no race seats)

1.) He meant that this was the first Black Series for the United States, which is correct.

2.) 349 made for the United States was the most consistent number I could find. Until Mercedes opens up and tells us the truth, that was the best guess we had.

Nice write up! I do have to disagree with stiffness of the suspension, its only a bit stiffer then an M car.

And you can always soften the ride with the stock coilovers

Ok with the explicit precision about USA othrerwise it is a little USA self centric, no ?

I agree. When providing the information I made clear that it was an estimate of cars for the United States. Overall though, I liked the article, and it is always fun to see your own car represented.

The production numbers are 367 US and 700 worldwide. These figures were provided by MB directly.

Touché. We do have a tendency to forget the other ~7.1B people out there every now and then. Except when it comes to cars like an RS6 Avant, and we're like, WTF?

Good write up and marketing, though. Well done. And GLWS.
