Well my 4 yr old fits just fine in a fairly normal sized booster (with backrest) in the back. Based on how much space there is back there, I don't see a problem fitting an infant carrier with base and the latch attachment points look pretty regular and normal to me. I will know for sure soon cos like you, there will be an infant carrier in there soon. The limitation for the back seat of the CLS is headroom rather than leg room and lateral space.
BTW are you dealing with Benzel B ? I was from Bergen Co but am now in Essex.

Thank you for the response, I was more worried about width I guess. since there is that center console thing back there. I have little experience with child seats, and from what I remember its a pain lol. Anyway my first MB was from Ray Catena, current 2 MB's from Prestige, and the next 2 will be from Benzel Busch. My wife's picking up her ML next week.. I ordered an E350 for beginning of Jan, but now debating on a CLS. They have a demo I can lease but Im not sure if I want to spend that kind of $$.. we shall see.. pm me if you don't mind talking about the deal you got.

Width was a slight issue for our booster cos the seat belt points are only just outside the width of the booster's base. But a few tugs to position the base once the kid is seated fixes it just fine. Do not see the same issue with an infant carrier base with latches since the infant carrier base is much narrower. PMing now but not sure if it will help you. My CLS purchase was unique.

It fits, there's TONS of room back there in the CLS. I'm using the base with a rear facing infant seat. The only problems I have is the sloped roofline makes it a little bit tough to get the seat in and out. I have to retract the handle completely to get it in.

I have a 16' CLS550 that will be delivered soon. Does anyone have any experience with the Orbit G3 Toddler (convertible) seat in the back of a CLS550/CLS400? Or in the back of any car?
The Orbit G3 is compelling because while the seat is rear-facing the seat can then rotate 90 degrees so that you can take the child in and out easier.
Below are some links and pictures.
Does anyone have any experience or any thoughts/concerns over such a seat (perhaps I havent thought of something)?

even though im interested in the toddler seat, here is a picture of the infant seat for reference

thanks for responding. ive read many times that its difficult to get a child in and out of the CLS because of the sloping roof line. So that is the idea behind getting a seat that rotates to the side.
hyperion667 did you or do you have a child seat in your CLS? Or have you seen if there is adequate enough space in the CLS to remove a toddler easily without bashing their head on the roof?

^yes, I currently have one that's facing forward, works very well. I did used to put the carrier in the rear too........I was sort of tight at first, but becomes a non issue with some practice no roof bashed either

I have a 5yo and a 2yo, no issues with space, but from time to time I wonder when one of the 2 is going to poke their eye on the exposed window edge when opening the door.

3 yo and a 4 yo regularly in the backseat with front facing Britax carseats. Only complaint is that they kick/scuff the seats.

^ you could try a guard or maybe something to cover the backseats? I'm going through this right now with one of my kids always kicking the seat haha, she's so cute though

I make the older kid participate in cleaning the leather with me. The more he kicks the seat back the more work he has when it comes to leather treatment time. Incentive to stay in control. Bigger challenge with our Sahara Beige interior on our GLK rather than the black leather in the CLS. But at least the GLK is MBtex so dirty stuff comes off easy.
