Tire size and offesets for 20" rims in CLS
Does anybody know the correct tire size for 20" Vossens on a CLS? Im purchasing 20" CV5's and I need all season tires living in NY but I don't know the correct size. I was told by one wheel company that 245/35/20-285/30/20 is right. Does that seem correct? Also what is the best offset for the car I don't want the dealer to have to modify the car at all I just want them to go right on. Thanks any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Yes thats the wheel size I am using as well. The only thing is the offset CarID is suggesting is the fronts are +25. I don't know too much about offsets but doesn't that mean they would stick out a little more than +32? I would rather the +32 then.

yes the lower the offset the more they stick out, or closer to fender edge.. what you can do is look at the vossen site and look at photos of CLS550's and see what a 32et looks like on the car.. but pretty sure they use 255/30 and 295/25 rear.. that makes tire 5mm closer to fender edge.

Hi,
If anybody can help me am suffering from the deformation from the inner wall of the front tyre for my cls with 20in rims. The tyres are of 245/30/20 size and the rear ones are 285/35/20.... am not sure whether the fault is from the tyres or from the rims. This is the second time that am changing the rims. I bought at last original mercedes used rims of 20". I am changing the tyres around every 2 month maximum. Now they run less than 3000 km and the internal wall damage started to appear. I tried both altenzo and a company called carrera tyres where both are of chinese origin. I am worried to change for an expensive brand like contenintal and again the same would happen! Can any body advise me what would be the actual problem. I am using it normally on highways where usually i use cruise control at 140 km/hr. I live in dubai where the temperature is elevated normally around 45 C. Please advise

inner wall front tire.. your tire is rubbing on the suspension? take a photo, how far in is your wheel sitting? you need spacers, or a wheel with lower offset

It is not rubbing. I asked today they told me from tyre, but i have a doubt still since they just want to sell. I cant use 245 35 20 tyres since they cant fit due to the suspension arm.

Bigigg, as to your previous question regarding pictures:
On front I have 245/35-20 on 8.5" wide et20 (yes 20mm) wheel - tire/wheel combo looks to be fender flash. Contrary to my previous statement that 255/35-20 will not fit the front, now after seeing how much room is still there after fitting 245/35-20, now I think that you might be OK with 255/35-20 upfront, but I think wheel's width and offset will need to be just right.
On rear I still have 275/30-20 on 10" wide et30 wheel - tire/wheel combo also looks to be fender flash. Later in the week, I'll put 285/30-20 on 9.5" wide et28 wheel and will post picture of that too.

old school look!! offsets look perfect! my goal is to lower the car to the point where tires are just tucked in fender by 1/2"
Im taking my chances with 245/35/20 9" 30et and 285/30/20 10.5 30et. rear will be aggressive, front should be perfect with 25et on a 9" but we c. its very very hard to find a wheel I like with perfect offsets, without spending big $$ on forged wheels

Agree, Big. One way to accomplish this, is to start with a higher offset wheel that you like (if not available with low enough offset needed) then by using of variable lengths spacers to get fitment required. I played with several different offsets wheels and still needed to use spacers (both front and rear) to get what I wanted. Had tried spacers in 2, 3, 5, 10, 12, 15 and 20mms. I have more spacers than wheels now.

V12s are excellent for normal daily driving (not a track tire like Michelin SuperSports). FYI: most guys with modified CLS63 (AMG forum) were using these tires and reported great daily handling. However, once mine are worn, I'm going back to SuperSports. IMO these cars deserve nothing less.

Rear: 285/35-20 EVO V12 on 9.5" wide et28 wheel. There's probably at least 3mm more left to be 100% fender flash, so since these tires on 9.5" have section width of 11.2" ("normal" is 11.4" on 10" wide wheel), on 10.5" wide wheel they'll be 11.6" (.4" or 10mm more to the outside). Given I have lower offset, but narrower wheel, I would say 285 on 10.5" et30 will be 3-5mm passed fenders. Not a big deal IMO, but certainly very aggressive. Notice (in the last picture) how nicely 285/30-20s cut on the gap (rear looks lowered).

New rims and offsets with C219 and now C218
Not quite the same size (these are 19" with 9 front and 11 rears) but this is what I did for my C219 and about to try on my C218 (waiting on my Renntech flash tune and tail mufflers which should be nice) I was running Contis 255/35/19 at front and 295/30/19 rears. Actually was running 305's but can't get them anymore. Pirreli 19x305/30 to square in the profile and rubbed on standard guards and lowering kit, 295's ar fine. Wondering how the rims will go on the new car.
ET 26 is front and rear offset I believe. Unbelievably I cannot find any pictures on the old car - which has gone to god sadly. Have the Renntech lowering module which made it look nice, will be fitting to the new car.
Old car was black and the new one is silver.... am planning to repaint for the new steed, any suggestions on best color for these rims on a silver car?
