A bit too hot roddish for my taste
a few on here went from straight to xpipe and said it quietened it down a bit and removed the hot rod sound

What is covered by warranty?

So do any of these mods void warranty? How about if I just do resonator/ muffler delete ?

I'd start with taking out the resonator and see how you like that--cheap and fast

I've thought about doing this setup. Resonator delete and put an X pipe and muffler delete. I'm thinking about it. I'm looking for more videos to get how each sound and set up sounds and go for one. I'm taking my time, but if someone has done this set up recently, pls post a clip.

The setup you're describing is going to give you a lot of vibration in the car so be ready for it, it's not fun. While it sounds loud and more muscley- is that even a word lol?! You will sacrifice drive quality.
I had my resonator removed and an x pipe. My cutouts play the role of a muffler delete and I didn't enjoy it at all with the cutouts fully open. When I had the a quarter way open I did get a better rumble and less vibration but still not good enough. Just a tip before you spend a lot of money on this

I had the resonator delete / straight pipe mod done a year ago. I am still not real happy with the sound---under heavy throttle--it sounds like a hot rod.
I bought an X-pipe but never installed it
How do you think the X pipe would sound versus my straight pipe set up? (would it quiet things down yet still provide a nice rumble?)
thanks

The X pipe would quite it down a lot and get rid of that flap sound that you probably have now.
IMO i think the X pipe kills the point of removing the resonator as there isnt much sound unless youre at WOT.

I cant vouch for this but i believe a H-Pipe would give you a better sound over the X-Pipe

What size tubing is the diameter of our exhaust? What size are we supposed to replace the deleted portion with?

Which ever shop you take it to will have the straight pipes in the proper dimension/s to replace the resonator section with. I would take it in --have it put on a lift and let them look at it first to confirm they can handle it
It's easy and cheap for any muffler shop to execute

So--what's your final call?---straight pipes OR X pipe OR--stock???
Also--am thinking of doing the trunk floor sound insulation and ready to pull the trigger on the Amazon item you used
Are you happy with that mod?
did you just line the trunk floor with the stuff?
thanks !

I’m happy with the resonators removed in favour of an x-pipe. It’s a subtle improvement vs stock so won’t be enough for some, but the straight pipes were just too unrefined for my taste... it sounded like I had a rusted out muffler or other exhaust problem... it was not AMG like... it just was loud and unrefined.

i think ultimately its hard to put into words and videos also don’t accurately capture the differences either. You have to hear it with your own ears. And what’s barely changed for some is obnoxious to others. Be prepared for some trial and error unless you can hear a car in person that you like and duplicate their setup.

If you scroll up or go back a page there's an Instagram video by evilcls with that setup. It sounds good IMO.

Hey MC061680, I made a recent video covering the muffler delete and video footage of the sound. I also took off the electronic valves and had no issues afterwards.
The resonator made a bit of a difference but was causing too much drone and way too loud for this type of car. The muffler delete alone is perfect.

I'm going to remove the resonator and install a MagnaFlow X pipe, but do not know what size to get. I've scoured the internet and this site, but have yet to find the answer. I'm uncertain if I should get a 2.25 or 2.5 diameter X pipe...help!

After listening to the various combos, I deleted mufflers only and am very happy with the results. Glad I didn't remove the cats.

Go 2.5" - it should slip over the factory piping nicely for welding. 2.25" is smaller than factory.

Also to everyone mentioning "secondary cats," there are only 2 cats, and 3 resonators (2 round and the big center one further back).
