Modifying the stock exhaust on the CLS550
I wanted to know what CLS 550 owners had done to their exhaust systems. I am considering removing the resonator in order to get better sound under full throttle. I have looked at different exhaust upgrades from Renntech, Fabspeed etc. but I really don't want to spend in excess of $2k on what will be a lease car.
If anyone has some relatively inexpensive options for the exhaust on this car I would love to have some input.
Thanks
Kyle

The resonator delete (replace with x-pipe of straight pipe) is cheap way to make it a bit louder. Lots of people have done it on the board with no issues. Depending on your expectations on how much louder it will be, its minimal from a sound perspective. Sounds pretty good when the engine is cold, but when it warms up its not much different than the stock sound. Changing out the mufflers in the back/and or the downpipes is the only way to get a meaningful difference in tone or loudness.
In steps I have done:
1) X-pipe for resonsator
2) Renntech mufflers
3) then swapped out muffler for Speedriven system
