Thank you for the pics! We got different tips as yours mount to the exhaust itself vs the non AMG are fake and just bolt lol.
Saving these pic anyways and showing them to the shop.

So to get the AMG sound do you suggest to install the cutouts right before the mufflers and remove the resonator?

if i understood you right:

No resonator + Mufflers = AMG like sound (if i open the cutouts this would technically be a straight pipe?)
No Resonator + No Muffler = Stupid loud not worth it (no point of me having cutouts here)
Resonator + No Muffler = deep rumble (No muffler would be replicated by open cutouts)

Thank you for your post
So...
My close friend had CLS550 with removed mufflers and stock resonator and it sounded good BUT Stock mufflers and removed resonator sounds even better. When he removed the resonator as well (straight pipes) he had it only for a week and he did put the stock mufflers back on because it was way too loud for everyday use and it did drone like crazy on the highway.
IF I was you I would remove the resonator and put the cutouts just before the mufflers. So you have that nice AMG rumble all the time but it very reasonable so you can live with it every day with NO problems at all, it doesn't drone even one bit. Than you just open the cutouts and have straight pipes when you want to have some fun.

As for those tips IF they aren't stainless steel, and I suspect they aren't because of how they look. They probably cast aluminum (light) or cast iron (heavy) either way you shouldn't weld them to our steel mufflers. Your muffler ship can either way extend stock muffler pipes and BOLT ON the Brabus tips to it (drill holes in the extended pipes and just use stainless steel bolts). It will required some experiments with alignment but it shouldn't be that difficult. One drawback that new tips might become loose after a while and you will need to tighten them from time to time.
OR
They can try to fabricate some spacers and brackets that will mount the new Brabus tips on to existing mounting points that stock tips used. Stock tips mount very differently (see attached photo) but good muffler shop can make it happen. It probably more time consuming than first method.

Anyway...when they will install it just take lots of photos !

Thank you for the reply.

I was planning to remove the resonator anyway as everyone here seems to be doing it with good feedback.
Strange how the resonator alone can make such a difference. I remember removing the resonator on my CLK350 back in the day and i could not tell a difference at all.

I removed the mufflers on my C300 and am stlll very happy with it to this day. Very little drone on the highway and a nice sound for cruising.

The V8 engines seem to be a whole different story.

This has been dragging but i have been very busy and havent been able to go to the shop so they can get started. I know it will be done next week 100% as i am back in town and will finally start driving this car lol. I have had it since november and only driven it 5 times. Shame

Also seems like 1 of those tabs is the same but the other 2 not!

Did your friend also remove the secondary cats?

I’m definitely removing my resonator as well but that’s the only question mark I have.

Nope. Neither me nor my friend removed secondary cats. I am really happy with just resonator removed and I see no point of removing cats.

So this project did not go as anticipated. Shop owner told me today that he was unable to install the QTP cutouts as there is no space for him to put them... I believe he was just being lazy since obviously a few here have done this mod before.

So as of now my rear is completely stock, no diffuser no brabus tips and cutouts

Going to a different shop on Tuesday for another attempt.

Anyone here who has installed this on the CLS550 can share some undercarriage photos please to make it easier for me to show the workers ?

Thanks in advance

On the exhaust note... My cls63 has full straight piping from the turbos to a middle h pipe and back to straight pipe, the mufflers are deleted and the sound is tame when it needs to be. Initial start up is super loud but I have cold start delete so its only for a split second and any hard acceleration is very loud and raw in a good way. For me the turbos with h pipe muffle the sound just enough for a muffler delete to be viable. One small negative is drone around 70-90 mph, its not an annoying drone like on a naturally aspirated engine but its there as long as your foot is on the throttle though rolling up your windows and turning on some music eliminates this issue.

I haven't seen any exhaust videos of a cat, res and muffler delete w218 cls so maybe I am one of the few but I will try to make an exhaust video with an external microphone as my phone mic gets wrecked by the sound.

Was installing your RT style diffuser PITA? Ive heard people complaining about it due to incorrect size etc..

Yes it was a pain and probably imposible to install unless you remove the bumper. Required a lot of trimming and bending but still worth it over the price of the real thing.

Where can I get these tips with two pipes that I can connect to the exhaust

Where can I get these pipes that connects to the pipes?

From every other distance and Anglemar I decided that the current placement looks better.
