CLS in the winter

Put on 18 inch SL500 wheels and Dunlop Wintersport M3s. Has done surprisingly well. Drove through 9 inches of unplowed snow/slush/ice without a problem. Got stuck while going up a hill but turned off ESP and got right out. This car is a solid winter performer in my opinion, it has never gotten me stranded.

I changed from the summer tires to the all seasons to help and it isn't the worst car that I've driven, but nowhere near a solid performer IMO and on the dangerous side. If I stopped on my driveway which is a very slight incline, I couldn't make it up and needed a bit of a run. My other car (Land Rover LR3) sticks like glue in the nasty stuff like no other car I have driven. That thing is a tank.

I have Dunlop Wintersport M3's on my Maxima and those tires are amazing!

I'll vouch for the M3s as well on my E63, have never had a problem in snow in two winters with them.

Traction perhaps isn't completely on par with the '04 Audi A8L with snows, but then you can't compare the power with the purity of the RWD relative to the Quattro.
