CTS-V Coupe
CLS DD

So I recently decided to go with a CTS-V Coupe over the C63 AMG and I sold my SLK 320 to get my wife's Jeep so I'm without a Benz and hurting for it. Really, nothing beats a Mercedes. I'm looking to pick up a CLS500 or 550 with a reasonable amount of miles, not looking to go over 25K. Is this a realistic expectation? Are there many issues with this car out of warranty such as costly replacements to parts that commonly fail? Thanks ahead of time.

i have had my car since it was around 39k miles and now its about to be hitting 80k..no major probs i have seen and i havnt read any common issues with the cars...for 25k i doubt u find a 550 with reasonable miles..but i would def. spend the extra 3-5k to get the 550..for the change in brakes and little more better performance in engine

CTS-V Coupe
Hey thank you for your response. So it is worth it to go to the 550 instead of the 500? Is the engine output the only real difference?

So, around $30-35K for a used CLS550 with (X) miles?
(Hint: help me by filling in the X)

2007 CLS550
You got a CTS-V and are looking for a non-AMG CLS? Now, I have a CLS550, but it can't hold a candle to the current CTS-V. I drove my neighbor's sedan, and it is probably the best car I have ever driven. Just incredible. The power, handling, composure, braking, etc. are all on another level. The power is a given, but that magnetic suspension is amazing. So, I would say that as a driver's car, the CTS-V soundly beats any non-AMG Mercedes (but I would say the CLS is a more beautiful car), and should give any 55 or 63 AMG all it can handle and more. Congrats. But, you came here asking about a CLS... I paid about a month ago $36,800 for an '07 CLS550 with the P2 package and electronic trunk closer with 23,000 miles in perfect condition from a BMW dealer. Seemed like a decent deal to me. Aside from the 32 valve 5.5L 382 horse V8 vs. the 24 valve 5.0L 302 horse V8, I believe the other most notable change from 500 to 550 was the switch from the maligned electronically actuated brakes to more conventional hydraulically actuated brakes. Good luck with your search.

The engine performance and the braking(I say the braking is prob a bigger and better change)..But If I were you I would test drive them both and test out the brake/acceleration. If it's not a big deal to you, then go ahead with the 500. As for "X", you would have to do some searching on autotrader.com or something . And is this an additional car or are you replacing the CTS-V? Like ChapelHillMBFan elluded to..if you are replacing..that will be a HUGE change lol
