HELP: Cant Shift into 7th Gear?
Hello guys,
When I first picked up my 2007 CLS 550 Sport Package I could use the steering wheel paddles, or the gearstick to shift the car into 7th gear.
Now, the car doesnt even appear to have a 7th gear, When I use the paddles or gearstick it goes 1-2-3-4-5-6-then back to D.
I read the operating manual and the part about liming the drive gears to any range you want. I never did anything to knowingly limit the range but it appears to still be limited.
PLEASE HELP! The car actually drives kind of weird now, compared to when I bought it.

I have the '07 CLS 63, and it will be different - but my car only shifts into 7th gear when I'm going 55 MPH (in comfort mode). When I put my car into manual mode, I can't shift into 6th/7th unless I'm going the right speeds. So, how fast were you going when you tried to shift into 7th?

I thought D was (7th) ( at least in my car 1-2-3-4-5-6-D i never seen 7th on my display even on manual shifting... even if it put into S mode 1-2-3-4-5-6-D 7th gear..... i believe D is overdrive other wise this would be a 8 gear transmission IE: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-D 
comfort mode start you in 2nd gear/ D ( this is me watching the shift band on the rpm and counting)
Remember "D" is top gear/final no more revs then 5-6 just gas saver

I went to an MB Dealer today and a salesman told me that the 7th gear is "D" so 6 + D = 7.
I am going to try using the paddles at different speeds though, that is an interesting observation that you have made. I definitely havent been doing 55mph when trying to shift into "7th"
