New Owner - 2009 CLS550 - Black
 

Hey what's up guys, this is my 1st post.. I bought my very first Mercedes Benz this past weekend.. It's a 2009 CLS550.. I love the car so far..

I'm still trying to learn about the car, and reading up as much as I can.. There was 47,000 miles on the car, and it's about to go in for Service B..

Any information you guys have on this car would be greatly appreciated, and I'll continue to look around for valuable information.

Congrats! I bought one myself same year and color combo back in August. It's been nothing but a joy to drive the only thing I had to do was put on some new tires. I will most likely get an ECU tune or sprint booster in the next couple weeks to up its performance

Any recommendations on the best place to get a set.. without having to pay the stealership markup...

Go to Discount Tire. They are extremely careful with your car.

Hey... I also have a 2009 CLS550 in black without the AMG package (I can tell by your square tail pipes). mine also had 47k on the odometer when I bought it in April 2012. I even have the exact same rims (now in storage).

Where do you live? If you're in SoCal I can recommend a few places. You look like you're back east, though, judging by the grass and style of buildings. :)

I bought a set of bridgestone potenza s04 pole positions on tirerack for around $875 I believe but there was a $70 rebate for them which I recently received so 800 net.

Installation and alignment ran me $100 at a bridgestone complete auto care.

I just need 2 on the rear.. I was going let the dealership put the OEM Perelli's back on, but I think I'm going to settle on the Continental ExtremeContact DWS...

The DWS might be a bit extreme, but trying to find the DW's on short noticed here in ATL has proven difficult and I have a road trip to make this weekend, so I needed to get some put on tomorrow...

It was between the Conti DWS's, and the Michelin Pilot A/S Plus...

So, you're mixing fronts and rears? I thought that was a no-no. I just ordered a set of rears (Continental Contact 3's) for my wife's car at Tire Discount. They seemed educated on tires (amazingly enough for around these parts) and were the best price in town. They came recommended by my neighbor who is a European aficionado. Dealer quoted me over double. I think I've learned that you will burn through two sets of rears per one of fronts...you need to get that garage emptied out.!

Any reason in particular why it's a no-no? The Pirellis on the front are virtually new.. About 80% tread left, wouldn't make much sense to pull them off unless there's some type of safety risk involved with running different front and backs...

The garage is clean now, I was moving things around and had just picked up a washer and dryer.. That was her first day home, best believe a space was cleared for her that night.. LOL

I'm no expert and I'm sure someone else can speak to it better than I can, but I would probably avoid a highline car with mismatched rubber...

Oh okay, while I can understand perception, I didn't see the need to take off the 2 fronts with 80% tread on them just to match up the backs.. Nor did I really want to go with the OEM's which wear much faster than anything else.. I'll match them up when it's time to change the fronts..

Unless, of course, there's a safety or reliability issue with having non-matching fronts and backs..

I really didn't want to have 2 front 'spares'.. LOL

I hear you completely...I just went through this with the wife's and the two rear Contact3's are going on Monday @$700 and change. Could have gone with another tire all the way around for a couple of bills more, but didn't want to throw away the fronts or lose the feel changing from summer h/p to all season. Word I got is with staggered setups, you'll go through two backs to one front...

If I were to notice any shimmy's or shakes, I'd be on my way back to get the fronts too.. LOL

684 miles between Friday and today on the new rears.. No issues, just smooth riding..

A little help guys.. I'm considering purchasing new wheels forthe car, and I honestly know nothing about offsets and the likes.

I wanted to know if someone would tell me if these would fit..

Size - Front : 20 x 8.5 / Rear : 20 x 10.0Bolt Pattern - 5 x 112
Offset - Front +15mm / Rear +20mm
Hubbore to fit - 66.56mm

Looks like they should fit, may be a lil aggressive tho.

Aggressive? I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Ride height? The look?

They're gonna poke out a little more then they are now, won't be as tucked in.

Ahhh, okay I see.. I'm totally okay with that, as long as there is no rubbing issues..

You may rub a bit. I have 20x10" ET31 on the rear. They're flush with the fenders. With ET20, you will have some poke and may rub.
