cls 500
strange smell when high revs
Now I have a strange burnt smell whenever I floor it. This is for my 2008 cls 500, 75k miles on clock now. Its not oil, ive checked and no leaks, none burning and levels high. Gearbox seems fine. You can only smell it outside the car and only when i drive over 5000rpm. Its not the tyres, its not oil. I get this smell with the aircon on or off, it doesnt matter. Any ideas? I am guessing cat converter or related issue although the smell isnt really like sulphur and it seems strange that its only in high revs when driving. Also now have a creaking sound from front whenever I break. Its not the breaks but more like a joint or bearing or some kind. Anyway, ill get it checked but im interested to hear ideas on the smell.

Are you familiar with what coolant smells like when you have a leak? Higher revs cause more pressure in the system and could force coolant out, if there's a weak point in a hose or connection
