I have a 2006 CLS 500 that was involved in a small accident. I had it towed to the body shop. They fixed the groll and headlights BUT the car won't start anymore. It won't even crank. I changed the battery and checked all the fuses. Today I noticed that the shifter doesn't match what it says on the dashboard. My shifter says it's in park, but it shows reverse on the dash. If I shift to reverse, it says neutral on the dash, etc. When I try to move it all the way to drive , it won't click into place. Any ideas? I don't really want to buy a new shifter if I don't have to.
