CLS53 and Rear Deck Rattle
Hello all,
Just wanted to see if others are facing similar issues as I am with a very annoying rattling sound coming from the rear deck when driving on rough/bumpy roads. The noise that's projected sounds almost like a loose clip, or screw is loose that holds the rear deck down. I've mentioned this issue to 2 different dealers now - who have both attempted to address the issue with no luck. My car is equipped with the rear-shade, and the noise is present with both the shade up and down. First dealer mentioned that my headliner was loose (which I didn't buy into), and second dealer mentioned they re-fastened a few clips and added tape to address the sounds. However, the sound is still present... While I understand my car is equipped with 20" wheels and low-profile tires and that the ride shouldn't feel soft - I don't expect to be hearing sounds that resemble poor interior assembly and dampening.
Getting a little annoyed over here that a car of this caliber is making such sounds - makes me cringe knowing how much I just paid for it...
Thanks!

Request a ride along with shop foreman or lead tech to identify/confirm rattle.

Hi Igor - yes. I have the same thing, just started yesterday after 6 months of no issues. At first I thought it was something loose in the trunk. But cannot find the source. Please let me know what the issue is when you find out. Many thanks!!

I have the same rear deck rattle (CLS 450) and believe that it might be coming from the sunshade housing. I took it in this morning and the service advisor heard the noise as well.
Hopefully they can find the source and fix it.

figured I'd follow-up to my thread with a resolution to the issue. Turns out, it was the sunroof cover that was making all the noise. Dealer added some felt-tape around the track and the issue appears to be gone. However, the tape does look like a temp-fix. Might have them look into it next time for a more permanent fix...
