Anyone else waiting for their 2019 AMG GT...?

Thought I'd start a thread here and see if anyone else is waiting for their 2019 AMG GT(...)....

My 2019 AMG GTR was an August production and arrived at the port in September. Unfortunately it's been sitting there ever since, apparently, waiting for emissions certificate.

Hoping to see who else is in the same predicament as me. If anyone starts getting delivery then it would help to know.

Cheers :)

I have a white GTR that is either in transport by boat or at the port. Was told the car can’t be released until the EPA cert and wholesaled to dealers. That date is 12/15 from what I hear.

I’m sure your car is being well looked after.

Hello there,

I am in the same boat as you. My GT-C has been sitting at the Baltimore VPC since 24 October. I think it was built in September 1st generation.....we were all surprised to hear from Production Specialist team that, "Oh yeah, BTW, the vehicle has been built and assigned to the Orion Highway vessel for transport." I had sent a note to my sales rep and inventory specialist about the rumored facelift items for the MY19s; most importantly the HP increases; we got back the note about the vehicle already built and assigned to the vessel.

Strangely enough, my job has me about 5 miles south of the Baltimore VPC pretty much every week! Every time I am down here, I always drive by and just wave....🙂

Let the waiting and anticipation continue! But, at least we are better off than the E63S folks that have had their vehicles held up since April/May in some cases and still getting the mid-late December delivery date. It's all good though. The later the better for me as a Winter Delivery in the NE means storage until April or a quick drive on a warm day between December and April!

FWIW: There are a lot of 2018 GTR owners here who waited 7-9 months for their cars at the port.

Here’s some info for you.

Good to know there are more of you out there in the same predicament as me hahaha

Ok, so I guess from what I'm gathering we're all anticipating a delivery (approx..) Dec 15?

I am just so excited I can't wait to get the car but also worried as the car will be sitting in the rain/snow on the east coast.

I guess my biggest question was why the car is taking so long to be released. I also have my 2019 g550 at the port awaiting certification; but, oddly enough I've seen some deliveries go out to customers of the new g550 on the east coast.... Which adds to the confusion I suppose...

Popspin 11-16-2018 07:42 PM

I’m another one waiting for my GT

GTC coupe.
Cant say it was a surprise. I had heard about the E63s’ being held. So when I learned about the December release date I hoped it wasn’t true. Turned out it was true. Per my dealer we are looking at a mid-December timeframe.
I guess the story about EPA certification is true. After all, MBNA isn’t making money on cars sitting in port.
So I wait patiently Re-watching You Tube videos!😂

Albuht813 11-16-2018 07:54 PM

Lol!!! I thought I was the only one obsessed enough to watch YouTube videos over and over again!

4 weeks and counting! I’ve already made appointments for paint correction, PPF, and ceramic coating.

chris135b 11-16-2018 08:43 PM

You are definitely not alone! I keep watching the AutoTopNL gentlemen testing/reviewing the GT-C 50 Edition and the regular GT-C on YouTube.

An example:

I watch every night as well! Lol. Keep hoping somebody posts new videos.

My car has been locked up since August 2nd!!! The wait has been killer.

tony cls63 11-17-2018 07:34 AM

I also have white GTR seating in Baltimore VPC since October . Dealer should receive it mid December

550x2 11-17-2018 09:39 PM

I’m also waiting for my GTC coupe to be released. I’ve been assumed that it will be released mid December but I won’t be surprised if it is not. It’s sitting at the port like all of you. Sucks, doesn’t it? As has been said before, the lack of communication is rediculous. They know we want the cars and they have all the power. I hope it’s not going to be a let down.

thecutter64 11-17-2018 09:57 PM

Deja vu . This happens every year. The EPA checks each new model year

Exactly.

thebishman 11-18-2018 11:41 AM

I am not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, but until the current administration I cannot remember any previous years when cars were held for months, many times multiple months, before being released from the VDC.

The EPA/DOT certification process has been done long ago on these vehicles, and hence if the ‘19’s have no differences from the 18’s, why the delay? Could it be a ploy on EU manufacturers to try and pressure their respective governments to negotiate to change certain ‘tariffs’, etc?

Puzzled in KC!

I totally disagree. These are not mass market cars. They are toys for the 1%ers that have money to burn. It’s just like kids waiting to open their lavish presents on December 25. They just can’t wait and keep crying everyday and having tantrums.

The cars are coming . It’s cold outside already and the summer performance tires are useless. No one will be driving their car till April/MAy anyway . My car got delivered in January . I had to wait for snow to melt and then I had it delivered Flatbedded to my home to avoid salt and sand on the road.

It sat sat in my garage till end of March when I took it out to get PPF . Then it went back in the garage till early May.

5 months of storage. So a few weeks on the VPCs won’t make a bit of difference. Less auto insurance to pay and the final car payment remains in the bank, stocksoe MMAs accruing interest until MB delivers the car.

Albuht813 11-18-2018 12:33 PM

Yes, we are 1%ers that love to whine and cry until our toys come home with us. I’m not entirely sure about a conspiracy theory but I think VW is to blame for a majority of it with the EPA issues.

I’m blessed to live in an area where I can drive the car year round and want my car ASAP! Nevermind the insurance savings!!

I love the discussion. It makes the time pass faster because we are all watching the pot ever so closely...

thebishman 11-18-2018 04:16 PM

This doesn’t just effect GT type owners though, correct? Aren’t E63s, etc. also being held for extended periods of time? Those are AWD cars that with decent winter tyres on them can be used in most parts of the USA pretty much year round.

The first and extended hold at the VPC was a reaction by the EPA to the VW diesel and incorrect mpg debacle. But again that was a long time ago; susbsequent cars have been released (the 2018’s), and if the ‘19’s are the same drivetrain, I don’t understand the current extended hold.

agree 100% with you. No major changes so cars should not be sitting for months. You guys will be getting a 19 model year and the 20 will be coming right behind them. Not for me, but not my money or time.

Albuht813 11-19-2018 04:16 PM

Well, some disappointing news. Turns out my GTR is still hanging out in Europe even though it's production has been complete for a month. Dealer is trying to investigate the reason for the delay in shipment. I guess I won't be collecting in med Dec like the rest of you. : (

thecutter64 11-19-2018 04:29 PM

Despite the EPA, let’s not forget the seatbelt recall of 2018 and no parts to repair. That delayed delivery for several months too!

X_Xray 11-19-2018 08:38 PM

my 2019 gtr also at port for long time, my original estimated delivery date is 30th Nov.

KarlsGTR 11-20-2018 09:58 PM

It’s not just you guys in the US that are having this problem! My GTR has been at the factory fully built since July and they can’t tell me when it will be delivered. Luckily they’ve loaned me a GTS since then until now because I’d threatened to cancel. One excuse they’d given me was that there was a part shortage of Carbon Fibre parts but think that’s was to shut me up as I was on their case every other day

canucklehead 11-21-2018 09:18 AM

My GTR was release from the factory on 4/10/18 and was sitting in my dealership in Canada 4/23/18.
There are some happy endings.

550x2 11-21-2018 10:16 PM

The cars were released today! My dealer said it will be in my hands before next Friday.

So your car was in Los Angeles warehouse and today you were notified by your dealer you'll have the car next week? This is GREAT news and thanks for sharing!
