if you want to do "it" right i suggest doing it yourself with a quality wax or synthetic sealant. Zaino is my personal favorite, follow the instructions in the stickys above and your car will look great for years to come. Detail shops generally do a poor job and will probably buff the paint on your new car when it isnt needed. Improper buffing techniques can cause swirl marks and buffer burns. Here is an example of a "detail shop" that buffed the hood of this lexus GS400.

Yeah, I know I should do it myself but I just don't have the facility to do it. Living in San Francisco.....well, let's just say that nature's air conditioning is running year round. Bottom line, I just don't have facilities nor the time. I've gone to one in the city but his location is a bit out of the way. He did a fantastic job on my SLK but it was a ***** just getting to and from his garage.

Do you know an equally good detailer around Hartford, CT? (Or, west of Hartford will be even closer to home).

IMO, the only shop in San Francisco is California Detailing on Fell Street (415-626-3691) I've been caring for cars for over 20yrs (I paid my way through college by having my own detail shop in the early 80's) and own 4 AMGs. I have seen California Detailing perform miracles on paint jobs that I thought were hopeless. They are the tops. Not cheap, but way beyond my expectations and I'm the Felix Unger of car care!

Thanks 4-AMG! They sound like the type of people I'm looking for and the location is convenient. I used to go to Marina Detailing at the Pan Pacific Hotel and he was expensive but good. Unfortunately it's a bit out of the way for me. I'll check out California Detailing!
