MF Towells (revisited)
 

I am confused (not unusual) about the microfiber towells to use with Zaino.

Sal Zaino says to use only 100% US Made Cotton Towells. After you take off the sewn edge, they fray and leave lint every where.

If you do use microfiber...what product name? They all seem to be made in asia and I am sure that some of them will have scratch procucing fibers regardless of what they say.

What size do you use for buffing off Zaino...how many do you need?
Do you need different ones for different things?
What "waffle weave towell" is the right one?

If you go to the sites selling these products you get a huge range of products at a huge range of prices. They all seem to have the same claim...but can't all be the same at different prices.

I just don't want to use the wrong towell and scratch my car.

etenn, i suggest from www.microfibertowels.com mf towels are a lot softer than cotton, but some are poor quality, microfibertech has ceahp prices, and quality mf towels

Bmms8...I followed the link and the site had mf towells for "hair, body, etc, even dogs" but nothing about cars. Where did I go wrong.

NO DONT GET TOWELS THERE.

Get towels at www.microfibertech.com purchase the elite towels. These are some of the best towels i have used, very plush and soft. The best part is they dont scratch. If not, get neatitems towels.

Sal Zaino is actually researching MF towels, because he knows that the good ones work much better. However, he is not ready to recommend them because of inconsistency, so he continues to test.

I just used a huge microfiber towel to dry my car yesterday after washing it. However it seems like a regular piece of cloth and it was hard to wring out the water. So after a while the cloth wasn't drying the car completely anymore. Do I need more towels or am I missing something?

I use two waffle weave MF towels, but I don't try to get every last drop, because I QD after washing anyway. However, the amount of water you need to dry up with dramatically be reduced if you sheet the water off the car using the method described in the washing sticky.

Which is proper way to use the waffle weave? I have seen on this forum to fold and blot and also to flop it out on the surface and drag it off. Which is the current favorite or is there yet a better way.

I do sheet the water off and it is a great method but you still have a lot of water in some areas.

Justin: What do you mean by "QD" and why doesn't the car have to be completely dry to do whatever it is?

QD is an acronym for "quick detail". They are those sprays the enhance the gloss on the car and make the paint feel slick. It will also safely remove a small amount of dust and finger prints. All you do is lightly mist it on the paint, wipe with one side of the towel, flip and get it dry with the other side. After a wash I usually QD my black car, takes about 10 minutes. The bottles with sprayer tops are all Quick detail sprays.

I also heard that there's a chemical you can use that'll make water sheet off even easier. They have it at some car wash place, so I hear. Anyone familiar with such a product?

no clue, but a good technique is to take off the nozle off the hose, so, the water doesnt spray out, it is more like a faucet, so, wet your car like that, and that will get rid of most water, so using a waffle weave is much easier, its the best technique i knoe of overall, it saves so much time, especially with protection already on the car

here is a pic of the MF towel.

There's a car wash you can buy at a store like Target that is "dry-less", they claim all the water sheets off. Using the running hose method is all I have ever needed, so maybe you can try it before buying another product. I'm not sure if these sheeting products leave any films behind or not, and that is one reason I have not tried to use one.

are those better the CMA's Big Blue and Viper MF's?

Viper MFs arent that good... I also like the microfibertech drying towel better than CMAs big blue. my favorite MF towels are the neatitems though.
