Happy New Year!!
etenn, did you use z-2, or z-5, and did you spray a little z-6 b4 and after coats? that car looks like it has less than 3 coats, you will get it much much more nicer, just put on 6-7 more, and you will love it, i have to wash our car tomarrow, and it is very very dirty right now, mainly because we drove over 50 miles in the last couple weeks, so it has a lot of dust, but even with that, it looks very very good
I put on 3 coats of Z5 (Z6 between each) and 2 coats of Z2 with Z6 between and finished with Z6.
That is 5 coats of Zaino and a bunch of Z6.
How should it look? I thought it turned out pretty good and was a lot of work. Hope it was a wasted effort.

that looks awesome, it looks different from mine only because i use all z-2. i have 8 coats of z-2. so overall yours will be more wetter looking, i thought you only put one or the other, i would just start layering more and more z-5, itllget really wet looking, and especially with all the curves itll look very very nice
I understand you should add a coat or two of Z2 after a month or two. Do you just put it on over the existing Zaino or do you have to go thru the whole dawn and clay thing
What point to you have to start over or is there someway to just keep it up?
Ed
Only use Dawn to start from scratch. If the surface starts to feel a little rough, use any clay bar over the Zaino with Z6 as the lubricant. You won't strip off any layers.
You shouldn't have start over if you keep it up. I have been told to add the ZFX at every 10 coats or so to help with the bonding, but I don't think it is necessary since very coat is supposed to bond by itself anyway.
Dodged a bullet today! I went out to put on the coat of Z2 and forgot that my wife drove the car around yesterday. Kept wondering why the applicator looked black when it hadn't with the other 5 coats. Did not figure it out until I had the Z2 on. Hated to even look when I wiped it down. Luck was with me and it did not scratch..whew!!!
I guess if hadn't had a memory lapse I could have used Z6 to clean it up before the Z2.

Put on another coat of Z2 today followed by a Z6. That makes 3 coats of Z5 and 3 coats of Z2.

your applicator was black and you used zaino on it? if it was black go get a new one, i would get a lot at one time, like 4-6
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Whatever it was, it did not scratch or do any damage. Probably just dust mixed with Z2 from driving around and not cleaning (like a moron) before putting on more Zaino.
Like I said, I was lucky...stupid but lucky.
My applicator was black FROM Zainoing. I don't know what the black was. It did not wash out with dawn. Really don't know what it was. Looked like I washed my tire with it. It was new when I started. I have more from Walmart. Maybe I can use this one to Zaino my rims.

it is probably dirt, this is what i do when i zaino....put the # of coats of z on the car, then do zaino on my rims with that applicator, when im done i throw it away
Your applicator should never get dirty. If it does, it means you didn't wash the car well enough.
You can see in my post above that I forgot my wife drove the car the afternoon before. I was thinking that I was just putting another coat of Z2 over the original.
Stupid but lucky.
Justin..the car had been driven and not washed or cleaned before I put on the last coat of Z2

How about it EDJ and Rock....any pictures after all your hard work?
Ed
i have some pics at the url in my sig. the last few pictures of the bunch are post zaino.
the digital camera isn't so good so i don't really like the pictures but i guess you'll get an idea.
Rock.
Yep you will definitely see some scratches in your paint, hopefully they are only limited to the zaino layers.
Lucky...won't make that error again. It wasn't that I didn't know any better, just that I didn't know my wife used the car and I thought it was still sitting in the garage waiting for me to put on a last coat of Z2
Ed
If you use ZFX, you do not use Z1 and the drying time is cut to almost nothing. You can apply many coats right away.
Check out the Zaino Bros. Site for tips and application instructions.

It takes time but is really quite easy...must be or I wouldn't had put on about 7 coats :p
